Set in a different AU where Jiang Yīnghuā dies and Lan Xichen has to raise Lan Liang and Lan Li by himself 

Short explanation - Jiang Yīnghuā and Lan Xichen are married before the Sunshot campaign and before the burning of Cloud Recesses. She gives birth to Lan Liang shortly after they are married then a few months later the burning of Cloud Recesses happens. Because she had just given birth not to long ago she was still weak from that strain and told Lan Xichen to escape and take care of Lan Liang. Lan Xichen finally listens to her after a long fight between the two and he escapes with Lan Liang who is only a few months old. Jiang Yīnghuā is one of the many who died during the burning of Cloud Recesses. Due to this Lan Li was never born and Lan Xichen was left to raise Lan Liang by himself. 

Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli have already died but Lan Liang still remembers them and had spent sometime with them in the past. 

"Father.. Where are we going?" A 13 year old Lan Liang asked his father as they walked through the back hills of Cloud Recesses. "You are coming with me to meet your mother." Lan Xichen smiled sadly at his son. He watched as his face lit up. 

"What was she like? Do I look like her?" He started spouting questions. Lan Xichen smiled fondly at his curiosity. "Your mother was very strong. She had bright cherry blossom pink hair and vivid bright green eyes that seemed to glow. You have her eyes but they are slightly darker." Lan Xichen started explain as they walked by the waterfall. 

"She must have been really nice and kind right?" Lan Xichen choked and started into a coughing fit. They stopped while Lan Liang supported his father, a worried look on his face. Lan Xichen straightened up. "Are you okay? Was it something I said?" Lan Xichen shook his head. "No no. I just found it amusing that someone would call her that." He laughed softly. "In a way yes your mother was very kind. But most of the time she had a temper that could be tamed by no one. Your Aunt Yanli was one of the few who could tame it." Lan Xichen began. They started to walk again. 

"She was going to go off and train under the great Zhi Ruo but never got the chance to as we were wed soon after the arrange marriage was placed and soon she gave birth to you. So she never did get to go and train under her but I'm sure if she had then she would be at least ten times stronger now..." He paused and added while shivering a little. "And ten times more scary.." Lan Liang looked confused at his father. "Why scary?" 

"You remember how I said she had a temper?" Lan Liang nodded. Lan Xichen shivered again. "If you want to know more about that then ask your Uncle Wanyin or Uncle Wuxian... They were mostly the ones who faced her wrath and lived.." Lan Liang found it slightly amusing at his fathers reaction to his mothers temper. 

"But her temper is also what made her unique. Her unique hair and eyes. She had learned how to control her temper slightly when we had first met but as time went on she slowly let her true emotions show through." Lan Xichen stared off into the distance like remembering something. "You are nothing like her, even though you to have a temper, yours is more of the silent type. Hers.." He trailed off looking for the right words. "Hers was more violent. Yes lets go with that. Much more violent."
