Sarawat's POV
"I messed up, Chief. I missed my chance" I wailed into the phone.
"Wat? What happened? Are you drunk? It's hardly 10 in the morning."
"I didn't go to the airport to see him off. I didn't wish him good luck. I didn't ask him to take care and stay safe.
I didn't hug him, hold his beautiful face, look into his eyes and tell him I would wait for him no matter how long it takes.
I just sat here and let him leave without even saying goodbye. And now it's too late."
My voice was hoarse from having cried for most of the previous night. I hadn't slept a wink in two days.
Something inside me had broken at exactly 9:45 am, coinciding with the time that Tine's flight would have departed.
My Tine would have flown away by now. Far, far away.
"I'm coming to pick you up. Be ready to leave in 15 minutes. I won't let you sit around moping all day."
"Why not? It worked for you. I haven't showered in five days. I haven't quite reached your peak levels of decomposition yet, but Pear walks three feet around me, so I'm getting there" I replied dolefully.
"Wat, you've been holed up in your room for a week now. Let's do a Fab 4 day out - you, me, Pear and Man. It's been so long since it was just us" said Chief.
"Didn't you say you were meeting Tian for lunch?" I asked, dully.
"I can meet him tomorrow. Let's do just us today, okay? I'm not taking no for an answer" he repeated, kindly.
I sniffed and cleared my throat.
"Have you spoken to Tian today? Pear told me yesterday that Earn, Type and Tian were going to the airport to see off..." my words stuck to my throat. I couldn't say his name.
"I'll call him later. Right now, it's time for you to go get ready. See you in 15" said Chief firmly.
I dragged myself to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked exactly like I felt - heartbroken and miserable.
I felt a bit ashamed. Chief had to babysit me when he could be out there spending time with his boyfriend.
I splashed water on my face and brushed my teeth. Then I stepped into the shower and let the cold water jolt me out of my listlessness.
I closed my eyes and saw Tine's face.
Tine smiling, with his cute bunny teeth and the way his eyes closed into half-moons.
Tine frowning angrily at me, and managing to look cuter than ever.
Tine looking at me coldly in that way that made me nervous and sent butterflies fluttering in my belly.
Tine holding my face in his hands right before he kissed me to heavenly bliss.
Tine gazing at me with those beautiful, brown eyes of his, right before he killed me with a goodbye.
Fuck, Wat. When did you fall this hard?
"Wat, I think that's enough showering to start smelling somewhat normal again" remarked Pear, pounding on the bathroom door.
I chuckled morosely. I'd been giving Pear a hard time too. She had spent the whole week trying without success to cheer me up.
Sadly, so had Man.
"What in the world gave you the idea that this would help Wat?" Chief had screamed at him, pointing towards the wall on one end of my bedroom.
"I simply wanted to remind him of all the good things that he can still experience and appreciate.
