They take two days to prepare, dividing the tasks between the seven of them.
Seokjin and Yoongi take on the task of going grocery shopping immediately, after having learned their lesson the last time they went on a trip and had to live on only ramen and frozen pizza, courtesy of Jimin and Hoseok.
After their classes end on Tuesday, they both decide to make a trip to the mart downtown, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook tagging along.
Namjoon takes the task of booking a trailer.
The site owner had said that all the basic necessities would be available at the camp only, as well as a toilet, according to Taehyung. However just to be on the safe side, they all decide it would be a good idea to take a trailer, as a storage for all their luggage and as a backup plan to attend the call of nature.
The trailer is a sturdy white vehicle, almost like a box. Hoseok goes along with Namjoon to check it out before they confirm the booking. It has a lot of space inside, for sleeping as well as food storage.
Taehyung and Jimin go tent-shopping, and Jungkook takes their car for a service, paranoid that it would stop working on the road, like in all the movies he had seen.
With all their packing and bagging done, the seven of them officially leave on Thursday afternoon, buzzing with excitement.
"Jimin did you take your luggage?"
"Yes hyung, for the last time –"
"What about your passport, Namjoon?"
"Why would I need a passport?"
"Just kidding."
"Wait, guys, where’s Taehyung?!"
------
The road to the camping site is mountainous, but the drive is fun. It’s a good, chilly, weather outside and they roll down their windows, blasting music and sharing snacks in between as they sing along.
It’s a fairly long distance and with Yoongi, Jungkook and Taehyung taking turns, they reach the camping site by nightfall.
"Uh, guys," Taehyung begins as the trailer comes to a stop, "I think this is it?"
Seokjin scoffs. "You think?!"
He gets off the car and one by one all of them follow, going to peer down the end of the road. There’s a steep path going down and at the end of it is a lake, a house facing it directly. It’s dark and the lake sparkles under the moonlight, waves rippling softly. There’s a light on in the porch of the house, but otherwise it’s completely unlit, making it hard for them to see.
The site is surrounded by greenery all over, thick spurts of bushes and tall trees tightly knit together, and as they stand there, a faint howl can be heard.
"Where is the camp?" Yoongi turns to Taehyung, who frowns, taking out his phone.
"The GPS said it was right here…" he mutters, fingers tapping furiously.
"Did you add in the right directions?" Jimin pokes and Taehyung looks up to glare at him. Jungkook comes to stand beside Taehyung and they both read through the directions the owner had sent them.
"Guys, I think we need to split apart." Jungkook says, cracking his knuckles and looking around. "The directions say the camp is around here somewhere."
"S-split apart?" Hoseok repeats, clinging to Namjoon’s arm, his eyes glancing around warily. "Why can’t we just go all together?"
"Hyung, it would be faster if we split –" Jungkook begins but Seokjin cuts in.
"No one’s splitting up. No one’s going anywhere." He says dismissively, hands on his hips. He looks a little paler than usual.
When Jungkook opens his mouth to protest, he holds up a finger. "It’s dark and we can’t risk losing anyone." He says and they all collectively remember the time Taehyung got lost. "Tae, try calling the owner."
"I am." Taehyung says, phone latched to his ear as he paces around. "He’s not picking up!"
Yoongi curses and Namjoon frowns.
"Let’s not panic." He advices calmly. "Let’s figure out where to sleep for now and then we can look for the camp tomorrow."
Everyone nods, humming in agreement. The wind blows around them, the temperature dropping, and the trees whistle.
There’s no sign of life around, except for in the woods. They could sleep in the trailer but it has space for only three.
"Let’s put up tents," Jimin says, suddenly remembering the tents and camping beds he and Taehyung had bought.
Jungkook perks up at that. "We could set them there," he says pointing to the big patch of land in between the house and the lake. "I am sure whoever’s in that house won’t mind."
"Can’t we just all sleep in the car?" Hoseok quips, not liking the idea. "What if there are wild animals here?"
"No thanks, hyung," Jimin replies cheekily. "You snore."
"Yah!"
