FIVE: The Weeping Woman

"I can’t believe you thought I was the weeping woman."

Taehyung looks absolutely cross, chin jutting out as he sits cross-legged, arms folded.

Seokjin smiles sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Well, you did look like –"

"I did not!"

Taehyung huffs loudly again and Seokjin winces.

After they all had run out, sweating and screaming for their moms, Yoongi had registered that Taehyung was not with them. One by one they realized what big idiots they had been and then Namjoon had gone inside again, along with Jungkook, to find a weeping Taehyung sitting on the stairs, thinking he had been abandoned by his friends.

Everyone had glared at Seokjin who had just chuckled in embarrassment. Well you can’t blame him though, he really believed the weeping woman had come for him.

"You can’t blame me," Seokjin says, pointing to all of the others. "You guys would have done the same had you seen him."

To this no one argues, since they all would have done the same. Everyone just bows their head in embarrassment, remembering the way they all had screamed.

They have a quick dinner at night, Seokjin and Yoongi having bought enough food to last a week, and then all of them go to bed.

In the middle of the night it starts to rain.

"Shit," Hoseok curses, shrieking as he unzips his tent and looks out.

There had been no sign of rain and so this was surprising. The ground was quickly starting to become soaking wet and the rain water was slowly seeping into their tents.

"Guys," Jimin yells from his tent. "I think we need to go inside the house. We won’t be able to sleep like this."

So with some difficulty they pack in some extra food and water, taking their camping beds and running into the house.

Outside, the rain pours harder.

It’s dusty inside the house everywhere and the spooky feeling and lack of light disturbs everyone, causing everyone to lose sleep.

They end up sitting awake, playing a game of cards and then some rock, paper, scissors.

"I am feeling hungry," Jungkook says after a while of playing random games. "And sleepy."

"Aren’t there any candles?" Yoongi asks and Seokjin stands up.

"I’ll go look for some in the kitchen." He says, holding out his flashlight and heading to the back, where the kitchen was.

Once seokjin is gone in the kitchen, Taehyung gets up.

"I think I packed in a lamp," he murmurs, "I’ll go check it in the car."

"Be careful," Jimin says and then Taehyung leaves.

In the kitchen, Seokjin rummages around the cabinets for some candles. He finds a box of matches weirdly, but there’s no candles. There’s also a few random pieces of crookery, all unclean, in a few cabinets, he notes.

It’s when he’s rummaging around in one of the lower cabinets, squatting down on his feet, that he hears some shuffling. Taking his head out the cabinet he looks back and-

Long black hair. White dress.

Seokjin turns back around. "Ha-ha, Taehyung, very funny." He murmurs, getting up to search in another cabinet.

Behind him, Taehyung lets out a wail.

Seokjin just shakes his head. "Yeah, nice try." He says, his hand falling upon what feels like a bundle of candles. Finally. "You can’t fool me again."

He says to Taehyung, who’s still standing awkwardly by the entrance. As Seokjin passes him, he pats his head.

"Come on, I have got the candles," he says.

Coming back to the lounge, where all the boys are hurdled together, Seokjin starts lighting up the candles, chuckling as he remembers Taehyung trying to scare him.

"What are you smiling about?" Jimin asks him sleepily.

"Tae tried to prank me again." He tells everyone, shaking his head, endeared. His maknae was so adorable.

"Tae hyung came back?" Jungkook asks, looking confused. Seokjin pauses.

"What do you mean?" he asks.

"Taehyung hyung went to search for a lamp he had bought, in the car." Jungkook explains, eyeing him weirdly.

Seokjin’s heart skips a beat.

"W-Who pranked me then?" he whispers. "Who was…was in the k-kitchen?"

Hoseok sits up, looking afraid. "What do you mean, hyung?"

"There was someone in the kitchen?" Namjoon asks, looking skeptical. "Are you trying to prank us?"

Before Seokjin can answer, a loud crash comes from the kitchen.

"The weeping woman!" Yoongi screams and everyone runs out.
