Chapter 4- HER?!

"Now I have a special assignment for all of you. We are having a singing contest." The teacher was interrupted by students excited bubbly chatter. She waited for it to settle down and she continued. "For this contest I will put you into pairs where you will have to work together to write a song and put it all together in time for the perfomance which will be in a few weeks time." Many people groaned and complained at the fact partners were chosen however I wasn't bothered by this I would rather have a set partner then just be stuck with the leftovers. The teacher picked up and continued. "The pair that wins will be awarded extra credit." The buzz and excitement returned once again. The teacher began assigning people to their own partners. There was mixed reactions some people were delighted with their partner and others not so much... She finally got down to my name in the register. "Y/N and Jade." She announced.

"Are you serious?! I'm partners with HER?!" Jade screamed.

"I can't work with HER?!" I shouted back springing to my feet in protest.

"Well I'm sorry you're just going to have to figure it out because I'm not changing the partners now." The teacher explained calmly. "Now. Go. Recording studio now. And get working off you go."

Jade stormed off slamming the door behind her, I yanked open the door after and followed her in a huff.

The recording studio was split into two sections it was seperated by a glass on the other side of the glass there was a box sized room with a mic and a guitar on the wall. On the side of the glass that we were on it was full of instruments. There was two tables one backed on the right wall and the other on the end wall. The room was so small that the tables joined together at the ends. Jade sat slumped in her chair at the furthest table she was facing me but looking at her nails. I sat at the other table adjusting the settings on the piano.

"I really don't want to be partners with you. I would rather be partners with Sinjin." Jade scowled.

"Yeah well I'm not thrilled either let's just get this done." I replied.

"Well I'm not THRILLED." She mocked imitating my accent again. I rolled my eyes and began playing around with different chords on the piano making things up as I went along.

"That one." Jade randomly shot out.

"What?" I asked confused.

"We should use those ones." She said folding her arms.

"Oh ok cool write it down." A satisfying victory for me I must be doing something right.  Jade picked up a pen.

"I'm only doing this because I want to not because you asked me to." She said scribbling down the notes that I was using. I carried on playing the same chords and tried to patch together a melody to match it.

"Hey I have an idea how about you stop playing the same thing over AND OVER AGAIN?!" Jade yelled.

"Hold on shut up I'm getting somewhere." I replied firmly carrying on playing where I left off. The piano sang the song of my newly created melody and I've got the perfect lyrics so I opened my mouth to sing. "They're the forbidden fruits my father told me girls are for boys and boys only don't be tempted by the devil my child he's a mean mean man but here's the thing the forbidden fruits taste sweeter and the devils an alright guy I don't need you to be my preacher I'n living my own lifestyle."

Jades facial expression softened and her arms relaxed to her side.

"Well what do you think?" I asked. She shook off the look like she was breaking a trance.

"That should be the chorus." She picked up the pen. "Sing it again."

I sung the chorus once again and Jade wrote it down. I carried on playing working on an altered melody for the first verse while Jade was busy scribbling down something on the paper.

"Play that again I want to try something." Jade said. I complied and began playing it again.

"I like the taste of the forbidden fruits and the devils become my best man there's nothing wrong with happiness so gay rights for you all." She sang her voice was soft and delicate which was completely contradicting her personality it was sweet.

"I uh...didn't know you were gay?" I offered a smile towards her light regathering in my eyes.

"Uh...yeah I'm bi.." She said picking at her tights.

"Oh that's so cool! I'm a lesbian so...yeah." I rubbed the back of my neck. We shared a gaze for a while. Her eyes were actually really pretty.

"I...I...I'm dating Beck!?" She suddenly blurted out.

"Oh..." The light drained from my eyes as if someone just pulled the plug on me. "Ok...nice."

"Yeah..." She shuffled around in her seat.

"I think you should maybe write those lyrics down." I said quietly.

"I did." She said refolding her arms and looking at the ground.
