Chapter 1

"NO my Khushi will not marry Shyam" said Payal who could clearly see rejection in her sister's face. Payal from start knew that her sister is not happy with this alliance and was trying different ways to doge it, so she step up to help her baby sister as Payal knows how persuasive her buaji could be.

"Payaliya  what are you saying?" said bauji. "Truth buaji, I will not let you force khushi for this marriage. Can't you see that she does not have any interest in this marriage and she also told you many times that she does not have any feelings towards Shyamji other that friendship. Then why do you keep pestering her buaji?"asked payal who could not understand her buaji's bickering.

"I am not pestering her Payal instead what I am doing is for her own good, shyam babua likes titiliya and can keep her happy. He himself said me that and given shashi's condition I do not find anything wrong in what I am doing." said buaji bewildered with payal's sudden reaction.

"No buaji what you are doing is totally wrong. Khushi is just 19 years old and shyamji is 37. There is almost 20 years age gap and you want them to get married. Just because shaymji is not asking for dowry you are getting khushi married to an old man. Would you have done same thing if shyamji wanted to marry me?" questioned payal irritated with buaji's stubbornness.

"Payal" exclaimed her mother and buaji was shocked, "yes amma would buaji get me married to an old man just because there is not dowry involved, why such unfairness with khushi? would you people get me married to any stranger just because he said he likes me and want no dowry?" said payal.

"Shyam babua is not a stranger, did you forget he helped us a lot" said buaji, "yes he helped us and is also our PG but still we don't know anything about him. Just  because he helped us that does not mean we get khushi married to him." said payal looking straight into shyam's eyes kind of challenging him. From starting she did not like his way, the way he sweet talks everytime or the way he looks at her baby sister. Something about him always give her negative vibes.

"But payalji I love Khushiji and I will keep her happy after marriage. Just because age factor don't separate me from my love and i already told you all that i am an orphan" said shyam looking to and fro between payal and khushi with desperation to convince them. He cannot loose this chance to get married to Khushi.

"See payal can't you see sincerity in shyam babua's love towards khushi" asked buaji pitying shyam, before payal could open her mouth Khushi interrupted saying " I am not ready for  marriage with Shyamji, I just see him as a friend or more like a brother which me and jiji never had." shyam paled listening the word brother from khushi's mouth.

Before anyone could start another argument payal said "that's it as khushi said she sees shyamji as our brother they both will not get married and that's final, as khushi's sister I will not let anyone blackmail her regarding this topic" with finality looking at her buaji and shyam. Payal took hold of khushi's arm and took her to their room and shut the door.

In the living room buaji, garima and shyam stood silently analyzing what just happened. "Buaji you please try to understand my love and convince Khushiji" said shyam thinking that she will help in but buaji gave him an apologetic look and said" sorry babua somewhere payal is right. You are very much elder to  khushi and also she considers you as her brother. It wouldn't be right to ask her anymore."

"Age is not the factor buaji, love is and I love her a lot. Please don't say like that" said shyam fearing that he is loosing his support. "Shyam beta age is also a factor. I mean look at jiji, even her husband was very elder to her and jiji became widow in very small age, I cannot see my titiliya like that, sorry beta" said garima and left to her room along with buaji. 

Shyam was standing there alone frustrated with his fail of plan to get engaged to khushi. He too left to his room thinking of new plan to convince all the family members.
