"Ready to go, babe?" James asked his girlfriend of two years as he walked into her chambers, watching her look at herself in the mirror, clearing her perfectly white dress of ruffles.
"Not like I have much choice, now do I?" Inez replies, not taking her eyes off of the mirror, simply not daring to look at her boyfriend, however you can feel the certain bitterness in the air.
"I promise you, everything is going to be alright. You'll have me and Lou by your side, you'll always have us...plus Harry will be there too and you know that he cares just as much" James frowns at that, going over to his girlfriend and taking one of her hands into his, now making her look at him. He squeezed it lightly, pulling her gently away from the mirror and towards the bedroom door, all while trying to give her the most reassuring smile he could.
In the two years of dating and over a decade of their friendship, James learned what Inez needed from him in certain situations, sometimes he even knew what she needed before she did and in those moments, Inez couldn't help, but feel grateful for the young duke.
However, today wasn't like any other and James knew that he need to be extra gentle and understanding with the young heiress, being all too familiar with the Tomlinson family situation and Inez's feelings towards their grandmother and the one person who stood in Louis' way to the throne. Mentioning Harry was a risky move and he knew that, but he also knew that as much as Inez didn't want to admit it, both her and her brother grew fond of Styles, Inez even noticing that there was more to their relationship than it meets the eye.
"What he cares about is getting Louis on that throne and so do I, I am doing this for my brother and for the sake of our two ruling countries" Inez huffed, straightening up a bit, as if James' words were her reminder of what her actual purpose for today was and it most certainly wasn't to sit still and look pretty. She pulls her hand out of James' grasp, taking the dirty blonde by surprise, before she went for the door, James following right behind her.
"Inez-" He called out, pleading with his eyes for understanding, for her to calm down for a second and not to go out hotheaded. Inez at that took her place, taking a deep breath, before she simply stated.
"No, James, that's the truth, you and I both know what's the truth here. Today is about Louis and tomorrow is about our kingdom"
