Imagine your boyfriend Adam taking care of you when you have caught a cold, and are feeling unwell. He's always been protective of you, so he stops you from getting up from bed at all, let alone letting you leave for work. You decided to rest on your and Adam's bed, whilst Adam tried making you some breakfast to help relieve your headache and ease up the cold.
But then you realised, Adam would most definitely have a hard time cooking up anything at all, given that he's never really been great in the kitchen. In the fear that he'll mess the place up, you slowly got up from your bed, sliding on your slippers and headed towards the kitchen.
You noticed Adam, as you had suspected, totally clueless and standing in the middle of the kitchen with a concentration in his gestures, as if he's busy figuring out a 10-step master plan in his head on how to make you breakfast.
Just then, you entered the kitchen and Adam snapped out of his befuddled state, frowning upon seeing you.
"Didn't I tell you to rest? Why am I seeing you in front of me right now?"
"Because, I walked out here on two legs."
Adam glared at you, and then sighed, dejected, "Y/N, you're sick. So get back to bed and wait for me to bring you your breakfast."
You stepped next to him, eyeing the poorly arranged pots and pans on the kitchen top, sighing and looking up at him, "You literally have trouble boiling water, and you're planning to make me an entire breakfast? Babe, I love you, but certain activities just aren't meant for some individuals. It's fine, you can learn."
Adam's eyes seemed to bore a hole into your skull as you gave him a mocking smile. He cleared his throat, ready with his defense,
"I don't really care what my limitations are, I can try and make you something so you can rest and relax until you get well. I know I'm having some issues with kickstarting, but that doesn't mean that I won't." He mock-smiled at you in return.
Sighing, you lifted your hands to rest them on your waist, turning to look at him, "I think we both already know your culinary skills aren't particularly impressive. They're rather, explosive." You grinned, trying to prove your point.
That reference was in remembrance of the legendary moment when you both had just moved in together a while back, and were trying out different house chores to figure out which suited whom best. You were a natural all-rounder, but Adam had a tough time getting himself used to his duties, given that he used to send his clothes to the dry cleaners almost every week or so in order to avoid washing them himself. His previous roommate was a decent cook, but when he moved out, he left Adam's life in great jeopardy as he then had no way to possibly cook up food for himself, even after trying. He considered himself lucky as he was dating you at that time, so you cooked for him whenever he came by to stay the night at your apartment.
During one of those trials in trying to solidify his base as a not-so-amateur chef, he tried baking a cake for you both, accidentally setting the temperature of the oven a bit too high, and the time a bit too much. So when the oven blasted from the excessive heat, covering the entire kitchen in bits and pieces of almost fried chocolate cake, safe to say he had to suffer your grueling wrath for the rest of the day and the responsibility to pay for every single date you both went out on for the next six months.
Adam opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again. Furrowing his brows, he reluctantly agreed, "Okay, yeah, I'm not the best chef you'll find, but I believe I can manage something."
He started to push you back by the shoulders towards the way to your bedroom, saying, "I'll figure something out, meanwhile the only thing you'll do is take some rest."
