Hawks held the door open for me, and as I stepped through the threshold I felt the music surround me. It was loud, vibrating the floor and reverberating through my chest. There were people here, a lot of them, and I recognized none of them. I've never been one to be comfortable with parties, but having him right behind me, with his calming aura, made it easier. He wrapped an arm around my shoulder, reminding me silently of his presence and letting everyone know he was with me.
Everyone stared at us as Hawks led me to one of the tables set up in the large living room, pulling out a chair for me. I thanked him quietly as he sat down across from me, looking me in the eyes. Again, he was only focused on me. Nobody else seemed to matter to him. His reputation of responding to all of his fans was probably tanking. On top of that, him being with someone as a plus one at a party might be taken the wrong way. Let's hope the media doesn't get on this somehow.
"You seem nervous, Kid. Don't worry okay? I'm here this time, nothing is gonna happen to you." Hawks smiled gently, calming me down. Seeing me relax, he started up a conversation to keep me distracted. I wondered how he was so good at sensing changes in emotion, without a quirk to do so.
"So where is he most likely going to be right now? You don't seem to have seen him in the crowd anywhere" he gestured towards the swarm of people dancing and drinking. He knew that if you saw Ash, it would be obvious.
"Honestly I'm not sure, Ash never even liked parties. When he gets word that you're here, though, he will most likely come to see why. And he will not be in a good mood..." I replied, trying to just focus on the man in front of me by keeping my eyes on him, almost like tunnel vision. "But until then, I need a distraction from all these people... So, tell me about yourself. I'm sure that bird brain of yours remembers plenty of interesting stories."
"Oh, well I'm pretty boring, there's not a lot to share-" he chuckled, nervously. I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't want to talk about himself, surely he had a lot of stories. I could pry with my quirk but I would never ever use it on someone I cared about without good reason.
"Oh, that's not true and you know it. You're literally like- the best hero in Japan, you don't get there without good stories to tell. Can I at least know your name? Calling you Hawks all the time seems too formal for crashing a party." I smiled up at him, resting my chin on me hand to await a response.
"Not many people know my name, Kid. It's something I don't share often." He thought for a moment before sighing, "But, I guess you're right. It is a bit formal for party crashing... " He weighed the options in his head for a moment. "My name is Keigo, Keigo Takami. Just uh- don't go around telling people kay?"
"Keigo...." I whispered as I nodded lightly in response, a smile on my face. I knew he had a reason for me not wanting to tell anyone, so I would respect it. "It suits you, like really well."
"Ha! Thanks Kid, glad someone likes it." he leaned back, looking at the makeshift dance floor. We kept up a nice little conversation about nothing particularly important, just joking around and very minimal flirting as we had been most of the day. The conversation had been interrupted when the song Rocketeer started playing, and it seemed to grab Keigo's attention.
