"Grr shush!" the bus braked and we came to a halt "Welcome to Pelican Town folks!" Ah, Pelican Town grandpa always talked about it when I was a little girl telling me one day It would be my home too "yn! Overhear!" I was snapped out of my thoughts as I turned to find the owner of that voice I saw an older woman with bright red hair and a smile that could Brighten up a room.
"Hi yn names Robin I was an old friend of your grandfather"
" Oh nice to meet you"
I went to shake her hand but was instead pulled into a hug
"No need for the formalities Yn you're a part a Pelican Town now"
"Oh thanks"
"No problem I know you're grandfather would want to give you a warm welcome if he were here"
Ah grandpa I missed him and his horrible jokes it feels like forever since I heard his voice.
"Yn over here "
I snapped out of my thoughts and turned Robin was standing further down the path
"Coming!" I shouted as I ran down the path to her. It was a beautiful day out as we walked further down the road, the trees were coming back to life and daffodils were sprouting the perfect weather to visit grandpa's beloved farm. Suddenly we came to a stop at a rocky overgrown patch of land and trees and a worn-down shack in the distance.
"Welcome to your grandfather's farm!"
Robin exclaimed doing what seemed to be a sad attempt at jazz hands
"But this is" I lost my words as I looked all around. Robin gave me a sad smile as she looked at me.
"With your grandfather gone the farm fell into disrepair, Lewis and I tried to keep an eye on it but"she stopped and waved around suddenly a door clanked loudly against the shed and an old man popped out.
'Robin I see you brought our newest neighbor! It's nice to finally meet you yn" the man said as he went to shake my hand. He seemed like an old gentle farmer with a funny mustache
"I'm the mayor of this fine town you can call me Lewis" his mustache seemed to move like a little worm with every word he spoke, I could tell Robin was trying not to laugh either.
"Well I cleaned up your grandfather's old cottage as best as I could," Lewis said as he pointed to the "shed"
"That's that's the cottage" I pointed out.
" A bit small aye lewis I could always expand it for a small fee yn," Robin said as she walked around it
"Robin!" Mayor Lewis show his head
"Don't mind her yn she's just trying to get your gold"
"Hey!" Robing yelled glowering at him
"Well get going now yn I'm sure your very tired," he said as He and Robin began walking and bickering. What strange people I thought. I began walking up the steps to my new "home" which was rather a shed. As I opened the door I realized one thing it really was a shed. I had no kitchen no bathroom and no proper bedroom it was just a shack with a sad excuse for a bed and a fireplace. Sighing I put my stuff on the table at least I have that and a heh! A tv! I flipped through the channels before flopping on my bed Crrrrrr the bed's frame began to creak and sway. looks like tomorrow I'll explore the town and try and find some nails.
