___________
July 31st - One Month Later.
The warm summer breeze wrapped around Luna's tucked frame, sitting on the front porch swing listening to all the things around her. The toads croaked and splashed around in the late July heat, bringing joy and melancholy to her being . She couldn't believe it had already been almost a month since getting here. She thought about it, almost saddened by the thought of eighteen sneaking up on her. If she were anywhere else, the feeling of escape was finally fast approaching but now... She was somewhere that didn't need escape. Just as she was finally settling in to a place she felt at home, she once felt the worlds cruel humor again.
Brought from her deepen thoughts, she felt the weight opposite of her pulling on the chains, making a small creak. Past tangles of raven hair, she side eyed the man sitting next to her. Dressed in nicer attire then she had ever seen him wear, she couldn't help but wonder the occasion. His casual white button up melded to his slightly built figure, hugging his biceps as if they were a second skin. Chest peeking from the low buttoned shirt tucked into black slacks, matched with black dress shoes where boots once lain. A small golden chain rests, peaking from his open shirt at his sun grazed collarbones. A small golden lion with peridot stone eyes that glimmered in the summer light hanging gracefully from it. Never having seen it before, she couldn't help but wonder what made it so special for this occasion.
"What's gotten you dressed up so debonair tonight? I don't think I've seen you out of those ripped jeans since I got here." a chuckle passed her lips, his mimicking the same with a smile.
"Well maybe if you came out of that room of yours sometime, you might know doll." his voice was joking, yet had a little sting. She was a solitary creature by design but things have slowly been changing, in more ways then one. She made her best efforts every day for breakfast and dinner, though sometimes depression and manic sleeping got in the way of it. She's even gone with Emilia to feed the surprisingly friendly three-headed swamp puppy, delighted to devour the boars head Scooter had yet again provided.
"I do have a life you know? It's the end of summer fest down close to the square. We never miss it, kinda been tradition since we were kids. And...It's kind of my birthday." pausing shortly in between, "Its not a big deal though, not like Nineteen changes anything." His words graced his lips smoothly with a soft laugh to himself peaking at the end, god she hated what it made her feel. This was one of those changes. She had never felt this was towards anyone her whole life, swearing off any type of feelings. And she still is, drawing her eyes away she pushed the almost nauseating feeling down. She swore she would never love after what had happened. Love can do terrible things...
Realizing now, the golden lion that sat proud and graceful on his chest was a symbol of his Astrology sign falling in Leo. The mighty lion and protector. This made her smile, seeing how he was with Emilia. She feared anyone who messed with his sister. Guilt settled in realizing she hadn't gotten him anything from her lack of not know, she'd have to make it up to him somehow, its who she was...
"I wouldn't recon you'd like to come? There will be all sorts of stuff going on." She was snapped back at his words, seeing him awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck, "Not like a date or nothing, I just know how stuffy it can be around this place all the time. And Em will surly be there too, she always volunteers to help with the kids face painting and stuff.." Words running together, she could tell there was a tint of anxiousness in his voice. It was kind of cute.. or not. And it would be a sure way to make it up to the man next to her. Mentally shaming herself again, she let out a sigh. She didn't want to be rude but she had never been good around lots of people but being alone in this house was another fear all in all of its own.
