Chapter 4

DINING AREA

"I am happy that you are here to join me with my lunch. I hope next time, Jimin and Seulgi will come next time. So, let's eat!" Mom said and so, we started to dig in. 

"Here love" I heard Taehyung oppa said to eonnie as he placed a slice of beef on her plate. 

Sooyoung eonnie smiled at him and started to eat. 

I smiled bitterly because I know with the fact that Jungkook will not treat me that way. 

He is still in love with eonnie, and I know that.

SOOYOUNG'S POV

While we are eating, I noticed Yerim scooping soybean soup and I think she will give it to Jungkook since she's scooping for two. 

I want to say something but I stopped myself. I don't want to cause any scene. 

Why do they seem so distant from each other?

"Is something bothering you?" Joohyun eonnie whispered.

I looked at her and with her gaze I know I cannot hide anything.

"Yerim and Jungkook." I said but she got that immediately. 

"Let's talk about it earlier." She quietly replied and I just nod my head. 

I continue to eat but Yerim suddenly speaks. 

"Babe, why aren't you eating the soup? I request that for you." Yerim asked Jungkook. 

"I just don't feel like eating it." He replied and tried to eat some but I saw his reaction.

At least he doesn't want to put Yerim's effort into waste. 

Jungkook hates soybean soup but still, he is trying. I just smiled and checked at Taehyung oppa and caught him looking at me.

"Why?" I asked him. 

"Nothing, I love you." He said and smiled at me. 

I smiled sweetly. 

"I love you too." I replied. 

AFTER LUNCH

I'm currently at the garden waiting for Seulgi eonnie's call. She's currently in a meeting but she said it'll be over soon and we need to talk about something serious as she described.

"How are you?" I heard someone from my back but I know this voice. 

I looked back and as expected, it is Jungkook. 

"Hey, uhm, I'm fine... doing great. You?" I asked back and trying not to be awkward. 

Before he answers my question, he starred at me for a while.

"I'm fine..." He said in an almost whispered tone. 

"You know that you can still talk to me, right?" I said reassuring him that it is okay if he'll open up to me. 

I know that he is not fine. The Jungkook I know is not like this. 

"You know in reality that I can't, right?" He said and looked straight to my eyes.

"Jungkook..." The only thing that I could say. 

"I'm sorry, soo." He said and looked down. 

All I can do at the moment is to take a deep sigh. Is this the moment that I will get our closure?

"I'm sorry for not fighting for us. I'm sorry for leaving you." He said but still looking down. 

I walked towards him and gave him a hug.

"It's okay. I understand why you did that." I said to him as I comfort him while rubbing his back.

I felt that he hugged me back and I just felt that the thorns in my heart were removed,

He was the one who left. He was the one who gave up but that doesn't mean he is the only one at fault.

"If only--" I did not let him continue and said...

"It is okay. We are not meant to be anyways. I mean we are bound to marry other people anyways." I said to him and he sigh. 

"So how were you and Yerim?" I asked him to divert the attention. 

"Uhm... I guess we are fine." He said and nodded. 

I nodded as well and remember about the soup.

"You know what? When I saw you tried that Soybean soup earlier, it made me think that you two are really fine." I narrated to him which eventually made me smile automatically. 

"You still remember that I do not like soybean soup??" He unbelievably asked and looked at me with his amazed eyes. 

"Of course! You are not a picky eater but you don't like the taste of soybean soup and you do not like much strawberries." I said to him proudly which made him smile. 

"I miss you, soo." He said to me and I can feel his sincerity. 

"I miss you too. So, don't try to avoid me after this okay?!" I said to him in a warning tone. 

He nodded and smile.

YERIM'S POV

I am looking at Jungkook and Sooyoung eonnie at the window above. 

This is the first time I saw him smile like that after a while. 

"Yerim" I heard Taehyung oppa as he stood beside me. 

"Hm?" I reacted and saw him looking in their direction as well. 

"You're not on good terms with Jungkook, aren't you?" He asked directly without looking at me. 

I panicked a little bit since I don't want him to know what is happening between Jungkook and I. I don't want to make him worry. 

"What are you saying, oppa? We are." I deny and tried to laugh to make him believe.

"I am your brother, Yerim. You're maybe laughing now but I can see it in your eyes." He said and turned to look at me. 

There's no point in lying and I won't even try harder since as he said, he is my brother and he knows me well. 

"Are you okay with what you are seeing now, oppa?" I asked him and looked at them again. 

He also did the same. He did not answer my question right away but instead, he stared at them for a whole 2 minutes. 

"I am." He answered. 

"How? I mean you know that they're ex-lovers and Jungkook..." I said but I cannot continue my next sentence because I know it will just hurt me. 

"Jungkook still loves Sooyoungie." He continued. 

He took a deep sigh and placed his hands in his pocket.

"How did you know?" I asked him.

"Because the way he looks at Sooyoungie is the way how I also look at my fiance" He said while looking at them still. 

"And you are okay with that?" I asked in doubt. 

I asked because I know that I am not okay with it. 

"I am because I trust Sooyoungie." He said and looked at me with a smile.
