"HOW DID THE CASE GO?" APRIL ASKED, her phone against her ear.

"Retrial due to new evidence. It's tomorrow. Are you going to be there?"

"I can't. I'm busy."

"Have you considered what I told you?"

"I have thought about it," April lied.

"This is a great opportunity for you, April. You should take it. It would be great for you."

"I need more time."

"Alright."

Karen walked in with a wedding dress on. "I have to go. Bye."

"Bye." April hung up.

"What do you think?" Karen asked, smiling.

"I think it's too early to pick a wedding dress."

"We haven't set a date yet. Jorge and I weren't sure about your and Laurel's schedules. Speaking of, where is Laurel?"

"Busy, mom."

"What do you think about the dress?"

April looked at the white wedding dress her mother was wearing. "It looks like the last one you showed me."

"The flower pattern is different in this one."

"The flower pattern is barely visible, mom."

"I can sense you don't want to be here."

"I don't. Besides, I have work soon."

"It's an ice cream shop, so you're not missing out."

April rolled her eyes. "Why don't you try on another dress, mom?"

"Good idea." Karen walked out. April's phone rang.
