Ep. 2: IN-LAW NEIGHBOR

In a Monday afternoon.

TAY
Hin, I'm going to Podd's house to check his new imported plants

NEW
Okay, but don't be late for dinner. And don't forget your phone!!

TAY
Yes deeaar

Tay goes outside and starts running excitedly like a child to a house across the street. When he's standing in front of the blue door, Tay could smell something sweet, chocolate he guesses.

TEET TEET TEET TEET TEET TEET TEET (not a Dark Blue Kiss intro)

PODD
wait!!

Podd takes out the last batch of chocolate cookies that he baked. Then he hurriedly ran to open the door, even forgetting to take off the huge, thick gloves.

PODD
P' do you want to break my bell again??

TAY
Sorry, I just can't resist the smell of whatever you're making right now. Cookies..? (peeking what's behind Podd).

PODD
Yes, you wanna try P'?

TAY
Of course, my best in-law (smiles)

Tay follows Podd to the kitchen which can be seen clearly from the living room. The house is in decent size with a cozy-homey interior, as it has plants in every corner. It also has some beach related decorations. Podd offers the first batch of cookies which has cooled down, and Tay bites a cookie right away.

TAY
Can I bring some for my husband? He'll love this.

PODD
Sure! Is he at the office now?

TAY
Nah, he's working from home.

PODD
You're not working P'?

TAY
Hehe, later. For now I'll let my other half handle our work. I'm too excited to see the new plants. Where is it?

PODD
You've walked past it in the living room. Here I'll show you.

Just when they started to bow down to observe the plants, someone just opened the front door with full force. It was Namtan.

NAMTAN
HELLOOO EX-HUSBAAAND!! Aw, P'Tay you're here.

TAY
NAMTAAN!! YOU STARTLED ME! (hands on his chest)

PODD
Can't you just knock or ring the bell?! This is not your house, ex-wife.

NAMTAN
(knock twice on the front door) done. Now can you help me with my luggages?

Podd helps Namtan to bring her luggages inside, meanwhile Tay is sitting on the sofa, still recovering from the shock. Namtan gives Tay a bottle of mineral water that she brings.

NAMTAN
(laughs in pity) P'Tay, are you okay? Your face is exactly the same when Frank officially proposed Drake back then

TAY
The reason is the same, it's because of you, stupid (pushing Namtan's head with his index finger)

FLASHBACK 2019

That evening, Frank comes to Drake's (old) house with Tay and New to officially propose to Drake in front of Drake's parents. Tay and New have met Drake's father a few times before, but they never met Drake's mother. All they know is that Drake's mom lives abroad and hasn't been back for years, but Drake still keeps in touch with her from time to time. Frank has warned his dads to not mention Drake's mom because Drake's still upset about her not replying to his messages, telling her that someone proposed to him and he might get married soon. The main agenda is to get permission from Podd to let Drake marry Frank and live with the Viho family. Podd and Drake put down 5 cups of tea and 5 plates of cinnamon bun.
