“Seriously Katie! You waited till right now to tell me this!? What the fuck!”
“I'm sorry, Phil. Please, just calm down. I'll fly out in a few days after the shows are done,” I said in a quiet voice.
He grabbed his bags and slammed the door shut as he went to the car.
I followed silently behind him.
We shot down the road to the studio, where the bus was waiting for the guys.
He swerved into the parking lot.
Dime ran up to me as I got out of the car, “K! How have you been?” He wrapped me into a big bear hug.
“Oh, I'm fine.”
He stepped back to examine me, “Where are all of your bags? Did Phil get em?”
“Yeah. About that.”
“She's not fucking going,” Phil spat out.
I glared at him, I expected him to be angry, but this was uncalled-for.
“What!? You've got to be joking.”
“It'll only be for a few days. I promise. Mad and Vic need me.”
“Oh. I didn't know y'all were talking again.”
“Me either.”
“Dime!” Vinnie yelled from the bus. He waved us over.
“We can talk on the bus, we don't have time to be chit-chattin'.”
“She's not coming with us Vin.”
A frown formed on his face. “Why not? I was excited to spend time with you.”
“Look, I'll fly out to be with you guys in a few days. I told Mad and Vic I would help with a few of their gigs. Julia broke her wrist, they need someone to cover for her. You won't even miss me, I'll be out there before you know it.”
“Whatever you say.” Vinnie, Rex, and Dime all gave me their round of hugs and entered the bus.
I wrapped my arms around Phil's torso. “I'm sorry, baby. It's only a few days. Everything will be fine.”
“I just wish you would've told me yesterday. Could've had more time to cope.”
I playfully slapped his arm, “Stop being dramatic. It wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway.”
“I know,” he mumbled.
“I love you, Phil.”
“I love you too.”
I pushed up on my tip toes and placed a kiss on his lips. He held me close and kissed me harshly.
“I guess I gotta go, Katie.”
“Yeah. I'll see you soon. Call me as soon as possible.”
“I will.”
We had one last hug.
I waited in the car and waved them off as the bus left.
