Wilbur rested his guitar neck on the the window sill, and looked over to Tommy.
Tommy stared back to him with a blank expression, not knowing what was to come the next morning was sure to keep him up.
"Something wrong?" Wilbur asked.
Tommy looked to the door, then back to Wilbur. Wilbur took that as a question, not quite knowing the answer, nor what Tommy was asking.
"Its just us two." he told, hoping his response was correct. Tommy sighed, making Wilbur to believe he was about to break down again.
"Hey, it will be okay-"
"Why did dad leave? Now Techno is stuck with those horrible people and not with us.." Tommy interrupted, bowing his head, and pulling his feet up to his chest.
Wilbur let go of the conversation, feeling the staggering emotions in the air, and picking his guitar up again. The two sat alone in the room, the emotions of the day weighing so heavily on him Wilbur nearly forgot he was even alive and in the moment.
Though for the past couple days he seemed to have been living outside the moment and not in it like usual.
"The usual?" he asked, sitting down on the bed, being careful to not to be to close as to not be to loud, but being close enough as to where he could hear.
Wilbur knew he played quietly, and for some occasions it would be best to play quiet, such as singing a lullaby to hush a worried younger brother to sleep.
Tommy nodded, and pulled the corner of his lips up to form a small smile.
Wilbur started with the song, feeling how strange it was to not have Techno beside the two, sitting and listening with Tommy. Even if it were only for one night it still felt like a nightly tradition somehow.
A nightly tradition soon to perish, and loose a person. Things didn't feel right without Techno being next to them, but he continued nonetheless.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Wilbur looked to the door when he noticed footsteps leading to the door, the second he started to sing.
Tommy didn't take notice to Wilbur's curiosity, and instead laid his head back, closing his eyes.
---
Techno heard the faint singing from inside of Tommy's room, still forbidden to see them now he was under the crown's forever, yet temporary curse. He sighed and sat with his back against the door, hearing a change in Wilbur's voice as he continued. Wilbur sounded more melancholy, and suddenly the once happy lyrics to Tommy's favorite lullaby felt more like a cry for help than a soothing melody.
"You'll never know dear, how much I love you..." Wilbur's voice started to break, and the cry for help seemed to be replaced with a cry for death.
"So please don't take my sunshine away.." Wilbur looked to Tommy, who had somehow fallen asleep so quickly.
Wilbur sighed, and inhaled sharply through his teeth as if he had just been stabbed in the chest by his own father, nearly feeling the pain of a knife through his lungs as he straightened his back.
He then rested the guitar back where it was, and threw the soft blanket over Tommy's body, looking to the door.
---
Techno heard the stop of Wilbur's wonderful tune, then took off running to the nearest flight of stairs to his new room on the third floor. He didn't take the time to be quiet incase Wilbur heard and vanished after him, and he also didn't take the time to be slow, knowing if Wilbur did see him he would be punished deeply even though he couldn't help it.
