Some things that are better left a secret. Like what hides in the dark. This game will help you get an idea of what is in the dark and why you should fear it.
The things you need for this:
Candles. Lots of them. But it all depends on how many rooms and hallways you have. You only need to have one candle for each room and hallway. The candles must stand on their own.
Obviously, a house to play this in. Your house is an option. It has to have rooms and hallways.
Matches or a lighter. Either one works.
And a timekeeping device with an alarm.
And last but not least, a player and a partner to help.
Preparations:
1. Begin in the daytime. Anytime, just during the day when the sun is out.
2. Close all the windows, turn the blinds, and pull the curtains. Be in total darkness.
3. All electronics should be turned off. Portable electronics should be hidden from sight. You can put these in a box and store the box in a closet or a cabinet.
4. Place an unlit candle at the end of each hallway. If you have 5, place one at the end of each of the 5 hallways.
5. Now the partner should start hiding one unlit candle on the floor of every room except for your own. DON'T ASK WHERE THE CANDLES ARE AND DON'T LET YOUR PARTNER TELL YOU WHERE THEY ARE. Once your partner has finished hiding the candles, they must leave the house until 6 am. Note: If you couldn't tell by now, the house should be empty except for you. So no pets and humans when you play the game as it can seriously injure or kill them.
6. Place one unlit candle right at your room door(on the inside of the room). Only the player should put this candle down. The partner cannot do this for you.
7. Close the doors to all of your rooms.
8. Set an alarm on your chosen time-keeping device for 11:10 pm.
9. At sunset, go to your room, close the door, and get to bed. Keep the matches or lighter with you.
The Game:
1. When your alarm wakes you up, make sure it is exactly 11:10 pm. If your alarm wakes you up late and it is dark outside DON'T MOVE. Stay in bed facing the ceiling. Don't try to look around your room or under the bed. Don't fall asleep either. Stay that way until 6:00 am. If your alarm does ring at 11:10 pm, you may begin playing.
2. Once your alarm goes off, you have only one minute to get up and light the candle at the door. If you don't light it in time, DON'T PROCEED. Get back into bed, lay facing the ceiling, don't look around your room or under the bed, don't fall asleep, and don't move until 6 am. If you manage to light the candle by 11:11 pm, you may proceed.
3. Knock on your room door 3 times. There should be a three-second interval between each knock. If you hear any noises from outside your bedroom door, DON'T PROCEED. Get back into bed, lay facing the ceiling, don't look around your room or under the bed, don't fall asleep, and don't move until 6 am. If you don't hear any noise you may proceed.
4. Say these words out loud: "I am ready to play." Open the door, step out, close the door, and place the lit candle outside your room door.
5. Begin moving through your home with your matches/lighter in hand. Have your timekeeping device with you. If any of the following happen, DON'T PROCEED. If a door is open then don't proceed. If a candle is lit in a room you haven't reached(you can tell if you see light under the door) don't proceed. If these two things happen leave your home immediately. Don't return until 6:00 am. If these don't happen, you're allowed to proceed. Whenever you reach a hallway, light the candle. Whenever you reach a room, knock on the door three times with a three-second interval between each knock. If noises are coming from the room, go to another one and come back to try again later. If you don't hear any noises, you may proceed.
6. Set a timer for 3 minutes. This is the time you have to look for the hidden candle. If you don't find the candle in three minutes, you must not proceed. Get back into bed, lay facing the ceiling, don't look around your room or under the bed, don't fall asleep, and don't move until 6 am. If you do find the candle within three minutes, you may proceed.
7. Light the candle, set the candle down, and leave the room, closing the door behind you. DON'T reopen any of the doors you've already lit the candles in. If you finish this with all the rooms, go to any rooms you've skipped and get back to your room. Get into bed, lay facing the ceiling, don't look around your room or under the bed, don't fall asleep, and don't move until 6 am. At 6 am the game has been completed and you may get up.
The End of the Game:
Congratulations! You've succeeded in completing the ritual.
Things to avoid:
Avoid looking into mirrors. Covering them up with your partner is a good idea.
Avoid having any pets or humans in the house.
Don't look behind you even if there is any movement or you think there is any movement. Look forward only.
If there are any voices during the game, don't speak to them. Even if they sound like loved ones, they are not.
Running, disobeying these rules, and performing any actions other than the stated ones will result in losing. And losing will result in a punishment far worse than death.
A punishment that will leave you in the darkness, never to be seen again.
