You may know the Crooked Man as an old man who lives happily in a crooked house with his crooked cat and crooked mouse. But there is so much more to this story. The real poem is much more terrifying, just like the real Crooked Man. The Crooked Man is a vengeful spirit or tulpa that is said to go after those who despair. The real poem is said to be a curse and when read out loud it will summon the crooked man and he will kill all who were in the house when the poem was read. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But one day he definitely will. And when he decides to show up, you'll never see it coming. You might be thinking "This is obviously fake". Why don't you go ahead and test it out then?
"There was a crooked man who walked a crooked mile
And he found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat who caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.
But the crooked man was sad and once he had a thought.
Why should he be crooked, when others, they were not.
Everything was worthless, he heaved a great big sigh
And he went and found a rope and tied it to the sky.
Upon a chair he stood, his eyes were blank and dead.
Without another thought, he went and hung his head.
Now the story's not yet over, for this tale is mythed and old,
Go hide under the cover... There's something not yet told.
There was a crooked man, who had a crooked smile,
And if you lived his life, he'll send you through a trial.
He lives for your torment, makes it full of strife,
And he won't be content until you take your life..."
Were you brave enough to test that urban legend? If you were, I'd sleep with lights on tonight, for the crooked man, he waits to take your life.
