LOUIS

The sweet smell of sugar invaded my senses as Harry and I stepped into Tommy's Ice-Cream Shop, sunglasses perched on our noses. There weren't many customers, only a cute middle aged couple in the furtherest booth feeding one and other, and a group of five teenage girls at the counter trying to decide on which flavour to get.

As Harry and I neared them, I could see two of the girls arguing about which flavour was the best.

"Hokey Pokey!"
"Mint Chocolate Chip!"
"Hokey Pokey!"
"Mint Chocolate Chip!"
"Hoke-"

"Guys can you please quiet down?" A brunette hushed them.

"You're making a scene" a small blonde murmured.

The fiery haired girl -Hokey Pokey girl- huffed and crossed her arms childishly, glaring at the opposing team, a taller blonde.

"Bella you have to agree with me, Mint Chocolate Chip is the best" the tall blonde said to the brunette.

Bella shook her head. "You'll have to ask Kiara about that, she's the ice-cream queen" she nodded over to a dark haired girl whom was staring at the selection of ice-cream and toppings in awe. She perked up when she heard her name being mentioned, and was about to say something when she noticed Harry and I approaching, and quickly shut her mouth.

The lady at the counter smiled softly at us, relieved that the two girls had stopped fighting.
"What can I get you for you today?"

I glanced down at the first window displaying ice-cream as Harry ordered.
"Can I get a double scoop of cookie dough ice-cream with some chocolate brownie pieces on top?".

As the lady started assembling Harry's order, I moved away from the first window, none of the flavours appealing to me. I smiled at the dark-haired girl that was sneakily glancing at the delicious flavours whilst trying to look interested in the conversation that was being held between her four friends. She smiled back sheepishly and turned to the group of friends fully, deciding to input on their conversation.

I stared down at the different boxes filled with colourful goodness and looked back up at the employee, who was handing Harry his ice-cream.

"Can I please get a single scoop of Hokey Pokey with m&ms and hot caramel fudge please" I smiled at the lady as she got to work on my ice-cream.

I heard a faint 'yes' behind me and I turned to look at the culprit with a smirk on my face, already knowing who it was.

The fiery haired girl sheepishly looked around, feigning innocence. She finally looked at me with a cheeky smile placed on her soft lips, her big green eyes glinting in mischief. I opened my mouth to say something to the intriguing girl.

"Here's your ice-cream" the chirpy voice of the counter lady interrupted my thoughts. I swung round to see her standing with a smile on her face, my decadent ice-cream in her hands. I smiled briefly and took the dessert from her.
"That'll be £6.79 thanks" she flashed me a toothy grin. My sunglasses tinted my eyesight as I tried to get my wallet out of my shorts pocket, the ice cream slightly melting in my hands. My sunglasses kept slipping off my nose as my head was down, trying to concentrate on pulling the damn wallet out of my damn pocket, making me stop multiple times to push the tinted bastards back up the bridge of my nose.
After many failing attempts -and loads of giggles coming from behind me, not to mention Harry's smirk- I thought, to the hell with it, and shoved my wallet in my pocket, grabbing my sunglasses and placing them roughly on the counter. I grabbed my wallet inside my pocket and flung it out - succeeding. I harshly grabbed out the money required and put my hand out, lifting my head to look at the employee lady.

Her brown eyes widened and stared at me in shock. I looked at her questioningly, because why?
I didn't understand until she started stuttering and pointing at Harry and I.

And I thought oh.
Should've kept the glasses on.

Harry's smirk had wiped off of his face completely at this stage, and quickly grabbed my outstretched hand -the lady was too shocked to even make full sentences, so I doubt she could've come back to earth to receive the money- and tipped the loose coin and change onto the counter, swiftly sending the lady an apology and a chanting smile. Still holding onto my wrist, he dragged me out of the shop, barely giving me time to quickly grab my sunglasses -because they were my only pair-. I looked back at the shop to catch a glimpse of Hokey Pokey girl -fiery red hair and green eyes staring at me quizzically.

And I thought,
I didn't even get to talk to her.
