Right in front of us stood the dark lord of our school, the evil principal Fr. Legmond , he had the most piercing dark eyes and he stared right down at us in the pool. On his left stood my dorm warden with shock and nodded at the principal. He stared at us for what seemed like hours and firmly said “those three to my office…NOW!!!!”
We slowly climb out of the pool, the wind gave us chills and I shivered from head to toe. It feels like the end but somehow It excites me and panic does not strike until we stand there dripping in his huge wooden cabin with Jesus staring right at us from above his head. His hands shake with anger and I turn to look at my crime partners, when my eyes meet Mariah her face turns into a tiny smile quickly vanishing when the father speaks
“WHY ARE YOU GUYS ALWAYS CAUSING SUCH TROUBLE!!? IT’S INSANE”
And silence follows. “Kiley, I need an explanation now”
I swallow hard “we were just in the pool, just a pool…..uh uh you know what I mean?”
“I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, YOU FOOL WE HAVE GIVEN YOU SPECIFIC TIMES FOR SWIMMING AND YET MIDNIGHT IS WHAT YOU CHOOSE”
“ELLIVIA WAS NIK THERE?” he askes sternly
We look at each other with shock “DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION WAS NIK THERE?’’
“Ummm…NO! Why would he be there?”
“OH! DON’T PRETEND WITH ME ELLIVIA, I KNOW WHATS GOING ON”
“There is nothing going on” Ellie responds with panic across her face.
“SHUT YOUR MOUTH!” Father screams and it echoes through his office
He glares at Ellivia like a hungry wolf about to attack its prey, “Ellivia, I don’t want you in my school, I have had enough of this cat and mouse game”
“There is no game, I swear to god he wasn’t there” Mariah speaks with a very intense expression that never suited her clumsy character.
“Yes father, there was no one there, trust me!” I add.
“TRUST YOU…SHUT UP” He screams. After a pause he sighs heavily and says “I am suspending all of you, I have had enough”
Before I could stop myself the words slip out of my mouth “common father its logic, if Nik was here wouldn’t you see him in the pool with us, what makes you think everything we do here is for boys”
His hands start to tremble, he points at me and says “I DON’T WANT ANOTHER WORD FROM YOUR MOUTH KILEY, YOU KEEP SUPPORTING YOUR FRIENDS FOR THE WRONGE THINGS “
“We are not doing anything wrong!” I say with temper clearly rising in my voice.
“Oh! Sure Kiley like swimming in the pool at midnight is very much applicable for students of this institute”
“IT’S NOT MIDNIGHT…..I admit it we were wrong but you are wrong too for accusing us of swimming with Nik when Nik wasn’t even there” I say nearly losing my mind.
“DON’T ARGUE WITH ME KILEY, ITS LATE AND I WILL LOOK INTO THE MATTER TOMMOROW NOW GET OUT”
As I was about to argue Ellie nudges me in my rib “don’t argue with him man, leave it for now” And so I rest my case and we move out of his office slowly with his owlish eyes following our every movement.
We walk past the corridor in shock and horrors of what just happened and slowly enter our hostel gates and to the dorm, I feel the numbness of my legs due to the wetness and the chill of the night. The minute our dorm door opens we find ourselves face to face with terror part two, the dorm warden gives us a snickering look and says “I knew this day would come, start packing okay”
“Okay” Mariah says with the imitating look of the warden and we push past her into the dorm where all our class girls where sitting across their beds awaiting our return.
“Guys! What happened? Why dint you guys just tell us before you went maybe we could have helped” Sharon says.
Sharon is good company until she decides to start her bitching session. I was in no mood to talk to my classmates so I just ignore their questions and walk past them straight to our washroom. Ellivia follows me in but Mariah being who she is decides to let the girls in on some information.
“Dude what’s going to happen” I ask with mixed emotions playing in my head.
“no idea man” she sighs “let’s just have a bath first Weill discuss this soon after”
I nod and turn to the mirror which covered two walls of our washroom for all the girls to use. Our washroom was huge with a small cubicle for each student to use and there was ample amount of space for everyone to fit in at once but the hot water geezer which wouldn’t even give out a bucket of hot water, so I decide to have a cold water bath and wear my warmest pajamas.
As I browse through my locker for them I can’t help but think of what would happen to us tomorrow and whether we would really have to pack. I sigh to myself and walk back to the washroom and straight into my cubicle. I start the cold shower which makes me shiver and numbness travels up my body, I hear the shower start in the opposite cubicle and wonder what Ellie must be thinking. And a distant thought strikes my mind and I skip a heartbeat
What will Nik say when he hears this tomorrow?
