You wake up layed on the floor of a vast cell, the only light coming from the bulb above or through the bars beside you.

As you sit up you realise you're not alone, across the cell on the other side, a boy around your age sits with his knees to his chest as he stares intently at you.

You're about to speak when a pain comes from your head, you feel where it hurts and look at your hand to see blood staining your fingers, you whimper in pain and the boy looks up at you.

"are you ok?" he says with a worried tone.

You sigh "fine, it's just a small cut" you say as you take note of the sink on the other side of the room, you stand up, limping over slowly to the sink.

You feel the boys eyes on you as you clean the wound, ripping off part of your sleeve to put to the wound adding pressure to stop the bleeding, as you do this you slump against the wall beside the sink, not far from the boy.

"So how did they find you?" you ask as you close your eyes trying to distract yourself from the pain.

"they took me, my mother and my father, I still haven't seen them yet, we were separated when they brought us in. That's when they discovered I was a mutant, they kept me alive for a purpose. I just don't know what that is yet." he replied his eyes scowering the cell, as if looking for a way out.

"there's no use in trying to find a way out, I already looked as soon as I woke up. The only way were getting out is if we gain their trust and make them think we're on their side, that's when we'll strike" you say as you open your eyes and look at the boy.

"how old are you anyway?" you inquire as you turn to face him.

"14, at least I think I am" he replies, confusion taking over his features as he attempts to work out his age.

You look at him, empathy taking over your emotions. You knew how he felt, the pain of being separated from your family, you felt bad for him.

-time skip-

You sit waiting for Erik to return to the cell you now both call home.
For the past month you've been taken to Shaw, learning to control your powers, so far there's be no such luck but as Erik returned you could tell something was wrong.
He sat beside you his face stained with the trail of fresh tears, his nose flushed with a Tinge of red, you could tell he'd been crying, but for what reason.

You didn't get the chance to console him when the guards came in after you.

You knew they were going to take you to Shaw, you couldn't bare the thought of the relentless torture, the mind games, all in a desperate attempt to get you to use your powers so he could manipulate you into doing his bidding and becoming yet another one of his minions.

As the guards grabbed your arms, you stared at them your once blank expression turning to one of fizzling anger, all that pain and suffering pent up inside of you was just begging to be set free. So you let it loose.

You closed your eyes allowing it to take over you, you felt a rush of heat bore from your core, scolding the guards, as they tried to pull away you froze them in place causing them to be burnt just from your touch.

Once you opened your eyes again, you looked around to see the two guards debilitated on the floor. You signal to Erik to follow you, he does so as you lead him through the camp, freezing anyone who makes an attempt to stop you. You're almost out of the front gate when Shaw appears behind you both holding the same gun he used to kill Erik's mother.

"sorry kiddos, but I can't let you leave" he said as he aimed the gun at us, cocking it with an expression that can only be described as a look of disapproval and disappointment.

"I don't think you have much of a choice" you said as you readied yourself, an amber glow emitting from your palms as you lift them an ember appearing between your hands, you manipulate it, shaping it into a ball of fire and throw it in shaw's direction.

He narrowly dodges out of the way, distracted, giving you just enough time to send Erik through a portal carrying him to safety.

You watch on as the portal closes up leaving you with the megalomaniac that was, sebastian Shaw.

-present day-

You jolt upright from your bed, breathing heavily as you recall the contents of your Dream.

You swing your legs round, now hanging from the edge of your bed, as you stand you grab your robe, wrapping it around yourself as you exit your bedroom.

You yawn quietly as you walk to the kitchen, passing the living room.
You fill a glass with water and turn around to lean against the sink, as you take a sip of the water you notice Erik sitting upright on the couch, you spit out the water in shock.

"jesus Erik you scared the living daylights out of me" you say in a hushed tone, almost whisper shouting at him.

"why are you up this late?" he asked a puzzled expression on his face.

"couldn't sleep" you said as you took in his disleveled appearance.

He observed you as you drank the water, your messy hair, the subtle dark circles surrounding your Hazel eyes, the robe you wore which had clearly been put on in a hurry. He could tell why you couldn't sleep, for he was in the same boat.

"well" you say as you turn back towards Erik.
"I better go get some sleep, we have a long day ahead of us" you say as you begin to walk out of the kitchen.

"that we do" he says as you pass him.

You stop before you reach the door to the living room, you turn around and offer him a warm smile, "goodnight Erik" you say as you turn to face forward once more, disappearing down the darkened hallway as you return to bed.
