one

harry groans when he hears his cellphone ringing. he looks at the time and groans when he sees it's only three in the morning. he had his first year of high school tomorrow and he really needed all the sleep he could get.

he answered the phone nonetheless.

"hello?"

"h-harry?"

harry sits up when he hears his best friend crying.

"ari? what's going on?"

"mom and dad are getting a divorce." ari states.

harry had known her parents were having problems. he just didn't know it was this bad though.

"oh, ari! im so sorry."

"my family's being torn apart, h. what am i gonna do? what if i have to move? i don't wanna move harry."

"hey now. i know for a fact that your mom and dad aren't gonna force you to move, okay? and look on the bright side, you get twice as much gifts on your birthday and christmas." harry tried to make her laugh.

ariana sniffles before humming.

"you gotta point there. i just don't know what to do though. i- my mom and dad have always been happy. we've always been this happy family and now it's broken."

"maybe it's best though, yeah? your parents have been arguing a lot. and i can see how much it took a toll on you, babes. now you don't have to worry.

ariana sighs.

"guess you're right. thank you harry. sorry for waking you. i know tomorrow's our first day of high school i just couldn't sleep."

"it's okay, babes. im here for you. remember in another life-"

"we're lovers. i know. i love you h."

"love you too ari. get some sleep. ill see you tomorrow."

"night."

the line went dead and harry falls asleep.

that was really the first big thing that's happened to really make the two already best friends at the time know they have each other's backs no matter what.

and as time goes by the two were still forever inseparable. ari and harry wouldn't be without the other ever.

they never kept secret from each other and did everything together.

whenever one of them wanted to join a activity in school, they both tried out, if one didn't make it the other didn't join.

ariana was harrys rock and harry was ari's rock.

now, three years later, as they both graduate high school, they throw their hats at the same time.

"we fucking did it!"

"yeah, we did!" harry chuckles.

ariana hugs harry before spotting both of her parents.

"congratulations, baby." zayn kisses the top of his daughters head.

"thanks daddy. couldn't have done it without you and mom."

"we're proud of you baby." nina states.

"thank you mom. is it alright if h stays over?"

"of course darling. where is he at anyway?" zayn asked.

harry comes into view a few minutes later.

"congratulations, harry." zayn smiles as he ruffles the kids head.

harry blushes. over time harry had developed a bit of a crush on his best friends dad. it's like over time he's aged backwards. not only is he beautiful though, he was sweet. harry knew he was way too young for him, obviously. but harry couldn't help but fall for the man.

"thanks mister-"

"harry, how many times do i have to tell you that you can call me zayn."

"sorry." harry blushes once more.

"have you told your mom that you're coming to stay the night with us?"

"yes! she knows!"

"alright, let's head out then. come on children."

"dad! we're eighteen."

"oh? i could have sworn that you just given birth to our baby here, nina. or am i mistaken?"

"nope! just pushed her out."

zayn and nina laugh as ariana rolls her eyes. the divorce was the best decision that zayn and nina could have ever made.

ari grabs her best friends hand and runs to the car as nina and zayn tell them both to be careful.

once zayn and nina made it to the car he starts the engine. zayn drives to nina's fist and waves bye to her before heading home himself.

ariana and harry were giggling in the back seat as zayn smiles at the two before pulling up to his house.

ari grabs harry's hand and heads upstairs to her room. zayn just chuckles at the two before going to the kitchen and making dinner.

once he was finished he called for the two to come down and they did. they all had dinner and talked amongst themselves.

ariana told his dad and harry's she's gonna take a shower. once she heads upstairs harry helps ari's dad with the dishes.

"you know you don't have to do that."

"i know. i wanna."

zayn just nods as he hands the clean dish to harry and harry drys before putting it up.

once they were done zayn pushes harry against the wall.

"congratulations, babe." zayn smiles as he kisses him passionately.

"thank." harry blushes.

the couple had been sneaking behind ari's back for the last three months. they started off with just sex but over time things got a bit more serious. they cared for each other, they really did. zayn and harry wanted to tell ari so bad but they didn't know how or how she'd react once they do. so for now they're keeping their relationship on the down low.

"you looked fucking amazing, baby. im extremely proud of you."

"yeah? i mean, i could have worked on a better speech though. was it too cliché?" harry bites his bottom lip.

"it's was perfect. don't overthink it, okay? you were fantastic."

harry smiles happily as he wraps his arms behind the older mans neck.

"thank you." harry pecks his lips.

"maybe after my princess of sound asleep we can celebrate, yeah?" zayn smirks.

harry blushes again.

"maybe. but last time we almost got caught. i don't want ari to hate me, you know? for sleeping with her dad. she's my best friend. i don't want our relationship to ruin our friendship, zee. i really don't."

"baby, ari will be happy that we're happy, yeah? nothing bad is gonna happen, okay? maybe we still need to figure out how to tell her but i can promise you, she'll be over the moon. plus im sure she wouldn't mind you as her step-parent." zayn smirks.

"oh, fuck! if we do work and get married she's gonna be my step daughter. that's so weird." harry laughs.

zayn chuckles.

"you're just not realizing that huh? you better head upstairs, babe. before she's wondering where you're at."

"okay. ill see you later."

zayn nods as harry runs upstairs to listen to ari most likely gush about some tv show character she's obsessed with.

sucky way to end a chapter but whatever.
i didn't want to wait for zarry to happen so i just made it happen quickly.
