Noah's POVI came downstairs and looked through the large windows of the house to see Elle and Lee before I went outside. Lee was out of the pool now, sitting next to Elle and I could hear them discussing something about student council as I stepped out the door. I made sure to stride as confidently as I could when around my girl (not meaning to sound possessive, but regardless if I was dating her, she was still my girl), puffing my chest subtly out. Not to brag but I always knew how to be bold and appear extremely manly. I saw Elle drift her eyes from my brother to myself as she noticed me. In the corner of my vision, not wanting her to know I was looking at her back, she intently gazed at me and... did I see a little smirk appear on her face? I sure hope I did. I also hoped she was noticing my new muscles.
I interrupted whatever Lee was blabbering about by calling out to him from across the pool. "Lee, you seen my athletic cup?" Obviously I was not looking for any damn cup, I just wanted to flaunt to Elle and check her out.
"Yes, asshat," Lee replied, irritated I interrupted him talking. "I needed it for all those varsity sports I'm constantly playing, ya know?"
I rolled my eyes and turned my head to look at the beautiful girl sitting next to him. She keeps staring. We locked eyes, and giving her my famous smirk, I said, "Hey, Shelly."
I know she hates being called that. But I love to do it; it's like it is reserved solely for me to use. Plus, it got her adorably angry when I would say it.
She smiled and responded sarcastically. "Yes, Noah?" She did a little emphasis on my name, which she knew drove me crazy a bit. I've always preferred Flynn over Noah. Noah seemed like such a soft name for somebody as tough as me.
"When did you get the boobs?" I know Elle was going to be flustered by this question but I needed to tease her a bit. Her mouth gaped open and quickly covered herself with a towel. Her cheeks turned pink.
Lee was quick to say something back. "When you were at football camp learning to be a better douche!" Maybe I deserved that. "It was almost like she was on human growth hormones or something."
"Lee!" Elle exclaimed, still stunned. "Rule Number Two, please!"
Ever since they were young kids, Elle and Lee have had this list of what majorly constitutes their friendship. I had picked up on quite a few of them over the years and I knew Rule Number Two stood for, "Never share secrets with anyone else."
"Whatever. Listen, Mom and Dad are out of town Friday night, so party starts at eight." I threw parties every once in a while when our parents left LA for the weekend. Me and a group of other guys alternate over who throws the monthly house party and this time it was my turn. "Don't invite any jackasses."
I turned to leave before I heard Lee say, "Does that include you?"
Elle burst out laughing at his response and they high-fived. I quickly turned back around to Lee with a football I grabbed off a pool chair and chucked it at him hard. Dramatically he fell into the pool, causing another loud laugh from Shelly. I wagged my finger as began to walk away, smiling because that was actually kind of funny.
"What an ass!" Lee shouted at my back as he emerged from the water.
What Elle said next cracked me up. "I know!" I thought I felt someone's eyes from behind me... I pretended I didn't just hear her say she was looking at my ass as I went back inside, grinning in sheer enjoyment.
"Hey, hey, hey! Rule Number Nine, young lady!" I'm guessing that had something to do with me being "off limits" to her.
"Oh, come on!" I heard Elle say. "As if!"
"Yeah, well, you got a little bit of drool on the corner of your mouth."
I shook my head, still smiling as I strolled past the kitchen and living room to head back up to my room. The thought of Elle looking at me in the manner she thought I was secretly hot made my heart skip a beat. She didn't look too bad herself, bathing suit or not. However, Lee's voice echoed through my mind when he said, "Hey, Rule Number Nine, young lady!" The friendship list between him and Elle had always drove me a bit mad because of some of the rules. "Dating relatives are a no-go" is obviously the one that irritates me probably the most. How dare Lee tell Elle who she can and cannot date? I guess I did scare guys away from Elle though... that that was in a protective sense. That was different.
I tried not to let that ruin my good mood though. Seeing Elle at school would brighten my days and make them seem a bit more incredible after I would have a sucky morning practice or on a test day. The only bad thing was I now had to go back to managing the immense amount females who begged for my attention on the daily. I liked the notice sometimes but most of the time, I hated it. They were all plastic and fake, needing to have their hair and their makeup perfect.
Elle though, hell, she was another story. She never tried a lot, she wore very minimal makeup, and didn't go crazy with her outfits too much. I think that's one of the reasons I liked the girl so much, she didn't go overboard and she was so much more natural than the other females who went to our school. She was so beautiful though. Elle was Elle, and like no one else. Additionally, she never bullshitted around with me and what I did. If I did something wrong, she never had a problem calling me out for it. I could always rely on her for guidance in a way. Elle had a good character and positive influence on me. Made me want to be a better person; a better man.
However, there was always a problem that I dealt with regardless if Elle would chew me out for it or not: anger.
