Packing up the cooking utensils they head back to the path that they trailed off of.
Once they reached the path they walked down. they soon come across a stack of stones with symbols carved into them
("Looks like a Cairn") Iris thought to himself. He started to study the runes, upon closer inspection he could actually manage to make out Spirit Caverns and Hollow groves, it seemed to be directions.
"Alright Sein, which way do we go?" Iris asked.
"We need to head to the Spirit Caverns. Then it should be a straight shot to the Spirit Tree." Sein said.
Iris nodded as they continued. Walking just past the Cairn, A frog jumped out from the bushes to strike. Catching Iris and Ori completely off guard.
Sein was on guard however as she easily incinerated the frog, unleashing a barrage of white flames.
"Quite the Jump scare" Iris said chuckling at the Horrible pun.
Still Slightly shocked, Ori could only chuckle.
They continued down further into the caverns. A few steep drops here and there nothing Iris couldn't handle meanwhile ori had no trouble at all. Then it soon became a narrow stretch, the sunlight just managing to illuminate the way, but soon it was pitch black. Iris brought out his phone and activated the light.
The light instantly brightened the corridor, as ori gasped trying to find out what caused the room to be so bright as she noticed it was coming from Iris's phone.
"Woah, that's cool. How can that little device produce that much light?" Ori asked
"Due to another nifty device we made, called LEDs. Basically when a Certain Voltage passes through, it creates a light source." Iris explained. He is a nature freak, not a tech nerd.
"so, basically a portable light source. So it's kinda like a lantern, but it shines in a certain direction." Ori asked
"Yep pretty much, just a useful tool for working in the dark." Iris said.
The light was helpful as they continued through. no beams of light seemed to penetrate the walls. Soon there was light at the end of the tunnel. Iris put the phone away as the group entered into a massive cavern with a small river flowing underneath the bridge. A few steep drops in the way but nothing too serious, They all make their way down.
Jumping down they proceed across the bridge, As Iris notices a blue figure slowly start to appear on the bridge. It looked like ori, but there were some key details that didn't match. Another Spirit perhaps? but why was it glowing, and why could he see it exactly. but it seems that Ori could see it too.She looked surprised putting her paw on her mouth and slightly whimpering at this sad sight.
The Spirit looked to be exhausted and injured it's hand on its stomach, as it limped across the bridge. Then it came to a crawl, then to a stop. A Glowing Blue Spiraling Tree stood in its place. So this Tree seems to mark this Spirits grave, what a sad sight.
This Spirit must have wandered through this place looking for food or something to soothe it's wounds. But it sadly didn't seem to find anything.
"What had happened to this poor spirit?." Iris whispered to himself but his thoughts soon were interrupted due to Sein talking.
"Ori. The light of the Spirit Tree lives in all of us. He is the reason we're alive,He's the reason we grew. When he called out to find you. You never came, And we were attacked,Wounded, And killed by our foe."
("Killed by our foe?") What does that mean, were they at war with someone. Was the decay responsible, And why call to just Ori, surely more spirits were lost or something similar?
Iris thought to himself, trying to come up with an idea of what attacked the spirits.
But once again his thoughts were interrupted
"Now these Ancestral Trees are all that's left behind. Ori, Come closer and feel the light of Fil, The spirit inside"'Sein mentioned ori to come closer.
("So Fil was the spirit we just saw.") Iris thought.
Ori then looked back to Iris for his suggestion on what she should do, he could only single the "Go on" motion.
Ori then walked up to the Ancestral Tree. She then started to slowly float upwards as Tendrils of light fused into her.
(Helluva light show)
She landed back down as a gust of air and light washed over Iris.
"That was interesting. What exactly happened to me?" Ori asked confused
"Ori, you have been blessed with Fil's knowledge of climbing, the time she learned as a spirit guardian has been passed down to you." Sein explained
"But I didn't really experience anything but a rush of energy." Ori said.
"Even I felt that Rush of Energy!" Iris yelled, referring to the explosion of air and light.
"It will come to you once you need to use it." Sein explained.
While they Argued about what happened with the Ancestral Tree. Iris looked a little closer at his surroundings, noticing a faint light coming from the top of a ledge. Looked like a climb should do the trick, might as well see what Ori learned.
"Hey guys. There is something on the ledge there, it seems like it could use a quick climb. Well ori, let's see what Fil taught ya." Iris said motioning to the ledge
Ori walked up to it doubting that she actually had learned something, but was tempted to try. She took a running start and managed to cling to the wall. She then started a sequence of jumps to propel her up, she easily made it.
"Guess Fil was a good teacher in that span of 4-6 seconds. Well what did ya Find?!" Iris yelled
Ori instantly came back with a Runestone in hand (or rather paw). "Found a runestone!" Ori yelled.
She then stepped back and jumped from the ledge. though the ledge was quite high, ori easily landed on the ground seemingly unfazed.
"So taking a fall like that, does it hurt or?" iris asked
"Well it doesn't hurt, I don't really feel anything. " Ori tries to explain to the best of her ability.
"Spirits are more durable than they look. They are made to withstand harsh environments." Sein explained.
"Well, I get that they are tougher than they look. But I'm assuming they have limits. Just wanna make sure we aren't pushing Ori too hard." Iris said
Ori smiled at the fact Iris cares for her well being.
"We must get going, we still need to head to the spirit tree." Sein explained
Sein and Ori started to head in another direction as Iris walked up to the Ancestral Tree to pay respects to this fallen Spirit. True Iris doesn't know much about their culture but it shouldn't be bad to give respect. (Insert Press F to pay respect meme here)
"I hope you're at peace and not in pain. We will restore Nibel, so rest easy. Ori will make great use of your climbing abilities, Thanks for sharing your light. May you rest in peace Fil." Iris slightly whispered
With that done Iris quickly caught up to Ori and Sein as they kindly waited, They soon took a path that leads them out of the caverns and into the Sun Light.

Well another one done, and yes I'm going to use the Ancestral trees from Will of the wisps because I like the design. Hope I did okay with this chapter.
With that, have a good one!
