"How are you feeling?" I whisper to Val who's sitting next to me on the flight to Spain. After the bomb she dropped, our family has been quiet, I think a few of them still don't understand the fact that Alessia is Rosa.
I don't think they've fully gripped the concept of her being part of the Spanish Mafia either or that they're related to Carlos and Marcus.
Carlos swore he never knew who Val was when he found us, he didn't know that his sister had changed her name and married into the Italian Mafia.
Stefano knew who Alessia was all this time and didn't tell anyone, he was in a war with the Spanish when he was Don, he tried to keep Alessia and Lorenzo apart but love prevailed.
He didn't say anything to anyone because he was too ashamed that his son was in love with the enemy at the time, he eventually just let them be.
"I'm fine sweet cheeks, I'm a little nervous. We're about to meet my mother's side of the family who was at a war with my family at one point, talk about awkward reunion," she mutters.
I'm nervous for them all, from what I've heard Stefano and Fernando hate each other and it'll never change. Somethings have happened between them that are unforgivable, but if I know Val, she isn't going to let it slide.
"It'll be fine, yes it might be awkward but I'm sure everyone will get along."
"That's what I love about you, you always see the positives and never dwell on the negatives," she sighs laying her head on my shoulder.
"What's been happening with you and Messiah?" I ask changing the subject.
"We've grown closer and spend a lot of time together, sometimes poor Felix third wheels but I don't think he minds the weirdo," she laughs.
"What about Alec?"
"I don't know, I haven't heard from him since they left with Yelena and Irina but I don't blame him. If I'm being honest though I know he and I would never work —" she shrugs, slowly closing her eyes, "Ivan has kept me updated on their recovery and I keep him updated with anything related to Viktor. They're in hiding since Viktor is still after them, Ivan wants to protect his family."
"Understandable —" I whisper, "get some rest love, I'll wake you when we land," I lay a gentle kiss on her temple.
She soon falls asleep, soft snores coming from her. I look around and see our family in groups talking amongst each other, I still can't believe I'm part of this family. As crazy and fucked up as it is, I'm still happy to be here with them all.
If I was to ever see my biologicals again, I'd thank them for leaving me at the orphanage when they did. I would never have met the most amazing girl and I would never have been introduced into the most beautiful family.
I wouldn't trade them for anything.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Messiah and Felix walk over and sit in front of us, smiling at a sleeping Val who still laying on my shoulder.
