"I can't believe you did that Wesley. That was the most you have ever done since we first met," – Caleb
I really hate it when someone's about to explain something and some big threat barges in, ruining the moment. I also hate it when the thing barging in is a giant snowman.
"OH MY GOD, WE'RE BEING ATTACKED BY FROSTY THE SNOWMAN!" Philip yelled. I couldn't help but laugh a little. It's not every day that someone can yell that they're being attacked by Frosty the snowman and keep a straight face. Almost falling into Caleb brings me back to reality.
"Caleb, what should we do?" I ask, hoping he would have a plan.
"You've only been here for a minute and you're asking me for a plan? I can't think that fast," Caleb replied. The giant snowman lowered his hand into the building, trying to grab us. We all ducked down as far as we could so that the snowman couldn't reach us.
"This is worse than the time Milton tried to grab us. At least when he tried he wasn't made of snow and hypothermia," Sarah yelled to all of us. I could see Enoch crawling towards a table with a lunchbox on it. He slowly reached up towards it and opened it. He pulled out what looked like a grenade and pulled the pin.
"Everyone stay down!" He yelled as he threw the grenade at the snowman as hard as he could. It went off with a BOOM and a wave of orange light. The snowman stopped attacking and backed away from the light. It then got up and ran away, taking the blizzard with it. We heard the van fall down with a huge thud.
"That was easier than I expected," I said out loud.
"The snowman is a wimp. You just need the proper equipment to handle him," Caleb said, showing me a grenade. "This here is what I call a thermo-grenade. Made these babies myself. Just throw one at that snowman and he'll go away real quick," He said.
"Is the snowman gone? I'm not getting up if the snowman's still here," Philip said. He was curled up in a fetal position.
"You can get up Philip. The big bad snowman is gone. Check your pants for anything that you might have done," I told him, patting him on the back. He got up, looking very embarrassed.
"This guy is meant to be the savior of the multiverse? Give me a break," Enoch told Caleb.
"Wait, what did you say about Philip?" I asked, walking towards the others.
"Caleb said that Philip is a part of some prophecy that talks about some idiot saving the multiverse from a couple of assholes," He told me.
"How does the prophecy go?" I ask Caleb. By this point, everyone was trying to listen in.
"Gramps used to tell me it when I was little," He said as he cleared his throat. "When the mind of a girl is taken, evil will once again awaken. A trial of games to be entered, a screen of pixels it shall be rendered. From the darkness a group of heroes will rise, to save a universe from its demise. A great hero will lead them all, but to win one among them must fall. The inevitable battle is the hero's destiny. The hero will be victorious, the brother of Wesley." Caleb said.
We all stood around with our mouths open, not knowing what to say. I am totally speechless for many reasons. The first reason is because of how the prophecy went; the second reason is because I'm mentioned at the end and finally, the third reason is because he remembered all the words to the prophecy. I couldn't even remember what I had for breakfast let alone something that someone told me when I was a child.
"Hey guys, are you okay? Hello?" Caleb asked. We all finally snapped out of our shock.
"Wait, what just happened? I stopped listening at the word 'girl'," Poofy said. Caleb kicked him across the room. He hit the wall and fell to the ground. "I hate all of you. You guys treat me like crap even though I was the one who saved all of you from that giant midget person Got Milk," He yelled to us.
"I believe his name was Milton," I yelled back with a smile. It was kinda funny how Poofy messed up Milton's name.
"Can we all just focus on the fact that there's a prophecy about me?" Philip asked, sounding more selfish than he was meaning to.
"What does it mean Caleb?" Sarah asked. This conversation had too many questions in it. This must be how I talk.
"I'm pretty sure the prophecy is talking about how people are trying to harvest some girl's brain and build a machine around it. Then some heroes come along to save the day. A big battle ensues, causing one of the heroes to die and the others are motivated by the hero's death to fight harder. In the end, the heroes win and bring peace to the multiverse," Caleb explained. Poofy clapped his hands.
"You know what I think? I think that you should tell your story over again, but this time with puppets," Poofy said. None of us knew if he was being serious or not.
"If Philip is the supposed savior, then does that mean we're the other heroes?" Enoch asked.
"Precisely. I believe we are meant to help Philip on his journey to save some universe," Caleb said.
"Doesn't that mean that one of us will die?" Sarah asked. The entire room fell silent. We all looked at each other. Excluding Philip, we had all been through some serious things together. I think that the thought of losing one of our own is making everyone wonder if we should help Philip on his quest or not.
"The good thing about all of this is the fact that I can't die and I'm not a hero," Poofy said, breaking the tension. He always ruins the saddest moments.
"Weren't you just talking about how you saved all of us from Milton?" I asked. Poofy instantly stopped talking. Even though I disliked Poofy, I didn't want to see him die either. I didn't want to see any of my friends die.
"I don't know about you guys, but if we're supposed to save the multiverse once again, then count me in," Enoch said.
"If one of us dies, then at least they won't die for nothing," Sarah said.
"I think it's an honor to fight with you guys," Caleb said. Everyone was getting hyped for this adventure, even though they knew that one of them would die. Even though I didn't want to go, I had to. It was my job to watch over Philip so that he didn't fail his job of being a hero. The sad part about it is that I was the one who'd asked for this adventure. I had a bad feeling that if anyone of us was going to die, it was going to be me.
