Chapter 12 I can't Count to Ten

"This is the last time I let a bunch of kids ruin my plans,"- Milton

We should have died from the impact of the van crashing into the ground, but instead the van had its shields up. If it hadn't been for the shields taking most of the impact away, we probably would have died.

"Is everyone okay?" I asked.

"No you dumbass, we just crashed into the ground," Poofy said, being a smartass.

"We're fine Wesley," Sarah responded. It was good to hear her voice after all the chaos.

"Wesley, do we have any water bottles?" Enoch asked.

"No, why?" I responded.

"I'm feeling very thirsty," he said.

"So did we win?" Philip asked.

"Let's get out of the van and find out," I said, unbuckling my seatbelt. We all got out of the van to stretch a little and saw that the entire building was destroyed.

"Is it just me or are we very good at causing mass destruction?" Poofy asked.

"Judging by what we're looking at, I say yes," Sarah responded.

"What are we going to do now?" Philip asked. We all looked at him. Caleb was gone, our van was totaled, and we had no way of communicating with anyone. We were more or less screwed. At least things couldn't get worse.

"Guys, look out!" Philip yelled. We all ducked to the ground as a bullet whizzed past us.

"You brats. You think you've won. I don't care what the prophecy says, I'm going to kill you all," Mr. Ten said as he tried to shoot at us again. His gun made a clicking sound and he threw it to the ground. "Stupid weapons. Never working when you want them to," he said, pissed off. Enoch walked right to him and punched him in the gut.

"You killed my best friend you evil prick. I hope you burn in Hell," Enoch said as he punched Mr. Ten in the head. Mr. Ten fell to the ground as we all cheered.

"Uh guys? Why is he doing that?" Philip asked, pointing to Mr. Ten. We all turned to look at him and saw that he was convulsing. Suddenly, a creature clawed its way out of Mr. Ten's body.

"What the hell is that?" Poofy asked.

"Silly children, you think I was trying to suck the life out of one universe to make my own universe? I was sucking the life out of it so I could feed," the creature said. The thing tried to swipe at us with its razor sharp claws, but it barely missed. "I have been trying to get a bite to eat for millennia, but I have failed. I guess I'm going to have to eat the most direct source," the creature explained.

"What's that?" I asked.

"YOU!" the thing said as it lunged towards us. We all moved out of the way as it tried to grab us. Only Poofy stood his ground.

"If you want them, you're going to have to go through me," Poofy told the creature. The beast swatted Poofy away with ease.

"I hate it when this happens," he yelled as he flew through the air away from us. The creature turned its attention back to us. We tried to run back towards the van to get our stuff, but the thing jumped in front of us, not letting us through. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Philip grab something off of the ground.

"Hey ugly. Yeah I'm talking to you. Why not eat something your own size?" Philip said as the creature moved like lighting towards him. I told Philip to run, but it was no use. The monster picked him up, and swallowed Philip whole. I was sad and furious at the same time. The creature was starting to piss me off.

"Oh no, he got Philip!" Sarah cried. The thing started to move towards her, but Enoch stood in its way.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Enoch said the beast. The thing raised its hand and clawed Enoch in the face. Enoch fell to the ground unconscious. The creature continued to move towards Sarah. I decided I wasn't going to take this.

"Leave her alone you dumb animal. Why don't you come get a piece of me?" I asked the thing. It stood there for a moment, and then it charged at me.

"You wish to die like your brother? Very well," the thing that was once Mr. Ten said as it opened its mouth wide. I would have died if I didn't have a plan. I moved myself right in front of the van. It jumped through the air at nothing

"Is that all you got?" I yelled to the creature. The thing turned around and charged once again at me. I moved out of the way just in time for the creature to ram into the van, leaving a hole in the side of it. While the creature was dazed, I made my way into the van and grabbed my balloon gun. As the creature got up, I aimed the gun at him.

"If I knew how to say goodbye in German I would," I said as I pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. "Uh oh," I said as the creature smiled at me. I was officially screwed. I braced for death as the thing prepared to eat me. Suddenly, the creature exploded and I was instantly covered in the thing's guts. I looked in front of me and saw Philip holding the same gun Sarah had used when she saved me back at my house.

"Philip, what did you do?" I asked.

"When I saw the weird gun on the ground, I picked it up and decided to kill the creature with a surprise attack," he shrugged.

"You killed it by letting it eat you," I said.

"I know, I just wanted to get the drop on him that's all," Philip responded.

"What would have happened if he decided to chew?" I asked.

"It was a risk I was will to take," he said. I ran up to him and hugged him.

"I'm just glad that you're okay,"

"Hey guys, do we have a med kit in the van?" Sarah yelled to us.

"I'll check," Philip said as he went through the hole in the van. I rushed over to Sarah to see what was wrong. She was holding Enoch in her arms. His face was badly injured. Philip returned with the kit and handed it to Sarah. She bandaged his face while Philip sat there and handed her what she needed. Meanwhile, I was busy looking for Poofy. I found him lying in a puddle.

"Oh no, not Poofy," I said as I picked him up. He was soaked. I rung him out like you would a rag and sat him down. Instantly, he began to talk.

"Thank you for your help fat boy," he said.

"You're welcome furball. Come on, the others need us," I said as Ipicked him up and made my way back towards the others.
