THE PRANK

(SUNDAY... continued)

SUNGJAE'S POV

When Sungjae arrived at their dorm, Changsub, Hyunsik, Peniel and Ilhoon were watching a movie in the living room.

"MAKNAE!" Changsub yelled excitedly when he saw him.

Dumping his bag by the foyer, Sungjae joined his hyungdeul.  Dropping his full weight onto the sofa, Sungjae sat back before he spoke.  "Hyung! You won't believe who showed up on the island," he said.

"Who? Did the media found your secret place?" Ilhoon asked in mock innocence.

"No! Worst!" Sungjae replied.

Eunkwang and Minhyuk, who just returned to the living room carrying snacks from the kitchen, exchanged looks when they noted the irritation in their maknae's voice.  "So, who was it?" Eunkwang inquired cautiously.

"Joy!" Sungjae told them.

"Joy who?" Minhyuk said, pretending to have no idea who their youngest member was talking about.

"RED VELVET JOY!" Sungjae shouted, playing along with their charade.

 "REALLY?!" his hyungdeul chorused, feigning shock.  Sungjae nodded, smiling inwardly.  Aish! They're really bad at acting, he thought.  "I asked her what she's doing in the island, and do you know what she told me?" Sungjae asked his hyungdeul who all shook their heads at his rhetorical question.  "She said the friend of Irene noona, who owns the island, offered to let her stay there," he told them.  "And then, she told me to leave! THE NERVE!" Sungjae huffed.

"So, what did you do?" Hyunsik prompted.

"I told her I rented the island. But she won't believe me. So I showed her the contract and the receipt. And then I told her that if anyone has to leave, it should be her because I paid to stay there. Not to mention, the owners are our family friend," Sungjae said.

"You kicked Joy off the island?" Peniel asked anxiously.

"Hah! Like I can do that even if I wanted to. One, she's too stubborn and refused to leave. Two, the boat won't come until the scheduled pick-up. So I had no choice but to let her stay. It's so irritating," Sungjae replied.  Teasing his hyungdeul further, Sungjae suddenly sit upright, taking out his cellphone.  "I should call samchon and ask him if he knows Irene noona," he said, pretending to dial.

"NO!" his hyungdeul chorused in a panicked voice.

Changsub snatched his cellphone away from him.  "It's already passed anyway. And at least you got the chance to ask her why she's avoiding you," Changsub said hopefully.

"Hyung! I can't talk to her with a lot of people around to act as a buffer for us. What makes you think I can talk to her when it's just the two of us?" Sungjae said.

"So, you didn't talk at all?" Peniel asked in disbelief.

"Well, we did. Once," Sungjae replied.  "I asked her what would her boyfriend say if he finds out that she's staying in an island with me. Just the two of us," he added as his hyungdeul just stared at him, waiting for him to continue.

"And...?" Eunkwang urged when he didn't continue right away.

"She said she doesn't have one because they are still under a dating ban. I thought she's lying so I asked her about Seulgi noona and Jimin-ssi, to be sure," Sungjae replied casually, as he covertly watched for Hyunsik's reaction.

"What did she say?" Hyunsik asked, trying not to sound too interested.

"Joy said it's not true, and they don't even know how that rumor started. But she did say Seulgi noona likes someone," Sungjae told them.
