If you want to have a clearer understanding of how everything plays out in this story, I might suggest you read Flightless first. It's my first fanfic about Loki Laufeyson and it's directly connected to this story.
But if you don't want to, this story alone can explain itself pretty well. You just have to know that Ella/Sarah is an original character and Loki's wife from the book I had mentioned.
