Y/n and her father finally moved to Okinawa, Japan. She must admit, this place is much more brighter than Canada. There's so much more vibrant colors and a lot more people than usual. It'll definitely be hard to try to adapt to this new environment.
"y/n sweetie, come help me move the boxes." Dad says as he unloaded the truck.
"Yep, coming!" y/n yelled back and went over to lend a hand. They now rented one of the houses in a quiet-ish neighborhood, only a few blocks away from Langa's and aunt Nanako's house. Unlike their house back in Canada, this one is much smaller but it does look aesthetically pleasing.
"Oof- that should be the last one." y/n huffed as she set down the last box. Her father turned over to her and threw a bottle of water her way which she successfully caught.
"Thanks for helping out sweetie, I can't wait to see what Okinawa has in store for us." her dad smiled before taking a gulp of water.
y/n nodded in agreement and took a sip of water as well. "Yeah, everything seems so new. It's liking starting off fresh and new."
"Yeah I agree!"
"Say dad. What do you plan to do here? And what's gonna happen to the resort?" she asked rather curiously. Her dad set the water bottle aside and sighed deeply.
"I'm actually not sure what I'm going to do here, I guess I came here without really having a plan." he smiled nervously before turning back to y/n. "O-oh! And don't worry about the resort, I entrusted it to one of our closest resort manager for the time being. Hmm I guess you can also say that, I'm still technically working as a resort owner but just from far away!" He added.
"Wow, well hopefully we don't think too much about our old home. Let's try to focus on us here in our new home, in a completely different continent, a completely different country and completely different environment." y/n said playfully. Her father also laughed and soon placed a hand on her shoulder, slightly squeezing it.
"What about you sweetie? What do you plan to do here?"
"Umm well, me and Langa did agree to go job hunting once we both settle down a bit. I guess I'll find out soon." she smiled reassuringly. His facial expression slowly faded and a frown appeared once more.
"How about try going to university here instead?" he suggested. Staring back at him, y/n let out a small sigh and shook her head slowly.
"Dad, we talked about this."
"I know sweetie, but it just seems like you haven't been my happy little sunshine anymore ever since your brother and mother left. I thought maybe going to school would help you get distracted and find new interests." he comforted. y/n patted his hand that was still on her shoulder before removing it.
"I know dad, I'll find something soon so you needn't worry." she reassured.
"Okay sweetie." he smiled back and stroked her hair. "Well anyways, let's set up this place. We wouldn't want to live in a house with heavy boxes everywhere now would we?"
"Yeah, I'll start with my room." y/n replied and went over to grab one of the boxes, then carrying it upstairs.
Unlike her old room, her new room seems brighter but smaller. She has nothing to complain about it since it does make her feel a bit comfortable. y/n started by sweeping the room to setting everything up and cleaning it one more time. Now it looks like a room where she can stay in, she sighed heavily after the exhaustion finally hit her and she fell on top of her bed. Not gonna lie, she did plan on just going to sleep like this but her dad won't let her off the hook if she were to go to bed without dinner.
"Y/n! Dinner's here!" y/n heard her Dad yell from downstairs. Talk about perfect timing right?
"Coming!" y/n yelled back and face planted her face into the bed right after, releasing a tired groan. Not wanting to keep her dad waiting any longer, she quickly got back up and rushed downstairs.
"Hey, what's for dinner?" she asked as she sniffed the air, smelling something delicious lurking around the room. Her Dad who stood by the dining table turned to look at her and smiled, moving away from the table and presenting what was hidden behind him.
"Ta-da! I ordered us pizza!" he said in a proud tone. y/n chuckled and playfully shook her head, realizing that it's usually her who does the cooking for the both of them but since she was busy setting up her room, her dad probably ordered pizza before they both got hungry.
"Aww, thanks dad. Let's dig in quickly before the pizza gets cold." y/n suggested as she walked over to the table and sat down across from him. Grabbing a slice of pizza, careful to not let any of the toppings fall off cause the pizza was still warm, she quickly took a bite and closed her eyes, savoring the flavor.
"Mmmhh. This is good." she mumbled with the food in her mouth still while pointing at the slice of pizza. Her Dad also took a bite of his slice and with eyes wide open, he nodded in agreement. Looking for something else to talk about, she quickly scanned the room and realize that most of the furniture had already been set up.
"Wow dad, you sure do work fast." she complimented before motioning her head to the furnished areas. Her Dad followed her gaze and chuckled, waving his hand in the air as if it's nothing.
"Yeah, I guess I'm still excited about what this place has in store for us that I was to determined to get the house ready quicker." he laughed.
"And what about your room? Did you set it up already?" she asked, quickly taking another bite of the pizza.
"No, I guess I was too busy with the floor down here that I forgot about my own room. I guess I'll just have to sleep on the couch tonight." He sighed. y/n slowly placed her slice of pizza down and crossed her arms, furrowing her brows at him.
"Are you sure you're going to be comfortable? You can take my room for the night, I'll sleep down here instead." she offered. Her Dad looked at her curiously and soon bursted out laughing after.
"I don't think I've ever heard of any story where a father sleeps in their daughter's room and their daughter sleeps in the living room instead." He laughed. y/n huffed out a defeated sigh, standing up with her slice of pizza and a hand on her waist, she rolled her eyes at him.
"Fine fine, excuse me for trying to be considerate." she said and walked away, "I'm going to finish this slice and go to bed, don't stay up too late and make sure the doors are locked okay?"
"Aye aye ma'am." He replied as he leaned back on his chair. y/n rolled her eyes once more at him before making her way up the stairs to her room whilst finishing the rest of her dinner.
Closing the door behind her, she didn't waste anytime heading towards the bathroom, stripping herself off her clothes and taking a quick shower. After doing her night routine, she was ready to call it a night. Today was an exhausting day and she can't wait to fall onto her bed.
Once she was finally on her bed, it didn't take long for her eyelids to feel heavy and shut down. "Goodnight Okinawa.." she mumbled before falling into slumber.
The next morning y/n had to wake up early as always. Aunt Nanako called and asked if she wanted to go grocery shopping with her, of course y/n agreed since there's no food in the house and they'll eventually go broke if they kept ordering take outs. Making her way down, y/n saw that her dad hasn't woken up yet and careful to not wake him up, she tiptoed her way over to the door, unlocked it and stepped outside, making sure to lock it again.
It honestly felt weird, she was so used to such a cold morning but here it's actually rather hot and sunny. She waited by the doorstep, thinking aunt Nakano could be here any minute now. A car slowly drove down the street and stopped in front of their house, rolling the windows down to reveal and woman smiling cheerfully at y/n.
"Goodmorning y/n! Come on and get in!" Aunt Nanako greeted from the car. y/n waved back and quickly jogged towards the car, letting herself into the passenger seat.
"Goodmorning aunt Nanako! Did you sleep well last night?" y/n asked.
She smiled at y/n and started driving off onto the road once more. "Of course I slept well, I mean I'm back home after all." aunt Nanako replied "And what about you? Did you sleep well?"
"Yep, although mainly it's cause I had a long day yesterday." y/n told and looked towards the road.
"Ah well, I'm glad to hear. Langa's at school right now, so I'll have to set up the leftover furnitures myself." aunt Nakano sighed and quickly giggled to herself right after "Do you think Langa's gonna make new friends here?"
"I can help you set up your house once after I'm done with helping dad and as for Langa, hmm. I think it's gonna be a bit hard for him to make new friends but I'm sure he'll manage perfectly on his own." y/n replied reassuringly.
Aunt Nanako took a quick glance at y/n and smiled widely, "You really think so?"
"Yeah!" y/n exclaimed.
"Haha, okay I trust you." she laughed, continuing her drive. They made more small talks along the way and manage to pass time nicely, not realizing that they've already arrived at the grocery store.
Once they're inside, y/n noticed how there were more signs of discount up on each aisles. Her Japanese isn't so bad so she did manage to make out some words.
"Buy five packets of curry for a 15% off.." y/n mumbled to herself as she read one of the signs. Aunt Nanako who had heard her, quickly peeked over her shoulders and let out a giggle.
"Wow very impressive y/n, your japanese is very good." she complimented. y/n waved looking back, smiling and waving her hand in the air as if it was nothing.
"Of course, don't forget that you are the one that taught me Japanese every time I went over to visit you and Langa."
"Fun times am I right?" aunt Nanako asked, nudging y/n's arm.
"More like how to put someone to sleep times.." y/n whispered hoping she wouldn't hear. Aunt Nanako huffed before pinching her arm. "Ouch-"
"Remind me to not feed you when you come over." She pouted, walking away from y/n towards another aisle.
"Come on, you know I'm kidding." y/n laughed, shaking her head. Aunt Nanako didn't reply but anyone can tell that she laughed as well by seeing her back shaking similarly to a laughing beat. (if that makes sense)
They both eventually went their separate ways, y/n went to other aisles looking for things she would need while aunt Nanako did the same but in another aisle.
"There you are y/n. Did you get all the things you need? We've been here for quite awhile now." Aunt Nanako waved as she ran towards y/n.
"Ummm..yeah! I think I've got everything" y/n informed, going through her basket and making sure she doesn't miss anything.
"Great, let's go check out and head back." She replied before leaving towards the cashier. y/n quickly followed her and they waited for their turn to check out.
After all that, they found themselves back in the parking lot, loading all their items into the back of the car. "That should be the last of it" aunt Nanako sighed as she dusted her hands.
"Yeah, let's get going. I don't want to keep my dad waiting for too long." y/n replied, aunt Nanako nodded and they didn't waste any time getting back into the car and making their way back home.
Upon arriving back at her house, y/n told aunt Nanako that she'll go over once she's helped her dad finish setting up the house. "I'm back!" she announced as she swung the door open.
"Welcome back!" a voice yelled from upstairs.
"Did you eat breakfast yet?"
"Yeah, I ordered take outs again." her dad told as he made his way downstairs. y/n placed the bags of groceries on the table and waited for him to arrive.
"I was going to make breakfast but I guess I took too long, I'll just make it for myself then." she told him as she grabbed some of the ingredients and headed over to the stove.
"No make me one too! I love your cooking y/n." her dad insisted as he went over to the stove as well.
"Alright alright. What have you been doing while I was out?"
"I finished setting this place up, it looks like a house where we can finally settle in with now."
y/n looked over to her dad with a confused look but he didn't seem to really understand her. "I got right to work a few minutes right after you left." her dad said, feeling rather proud of himself.
"So you knew where I was going?" y/n asked and cracked an egg into the pan, tilting the pan so that it can move around.
"Of course, your aunt texted me that you guys are going shopping." He replied. y/n nodded at him and continued cooking. Soon she finally finished making 2 servings of fried egg and toast.
"Dad! Breakfast is ready!" she yelled. She then placed the food down and took a seat, her dad quickly joined her and smiled widely when he saw the food.
"Looks good as always. That's my y/n!" her dad smiled before taking a huge bite out of his toasted bread.
"So I'll just head over to aunt Nanako's house after this okay? What do you plan to do?" y/n asked him. He looked at her, smiled and placed his toast back on his plate. With wide eyes glinting with confidence and a grin almost devil like, propping his chin on his hand as well.
"I've actually decided to look for a job." he told her with a confident smile.
"So you're going to work two jobs at the same time?"
"Yep!" he exclaimed. y/n honestly didn't have much to say, she definitely prefer her dad going out than staying in here like a raccoon managing a resort from the other side of Earth. So she smiled back and gave him a thumbs up which he responded with a confident nod as well.
Once she finished her breakfast, she quickly washed her dish and didn't waste any time putting on her shoes and exiting the door. "I'm going now!" she yelled back as she left the house.
"Okay!" her dad yelled back from inside.
y/n quickly jogged to aunt Nanako's house and they got to work right away. She helped her set up some leftover furnitures while aunt Nakano mopped and dusted the areas. They did take quick breaks but not ones too long since they wanted to get everything done before Langa gets back from school.
"That should be it!" aunt Nanako huffed as she finished wiping a vase on the table and plopped down on a nearby chair. "Thanks for the help y/n." she thanked as she looked around for her niece.
"Yeah no problem." y/n replied as she dusted her hands on her shirt after finishing plugging in the television.
"Langa should be home any minute now, he told me you guys are going job hunting together." aunt Nanako told.
"Yeah we are."
"Are you sure you want to? You must be exhausted after helping me out, how about tomorrow instead?" she insisted.
"No Langa is probably also exhausted after returning from school. Besides we both agreed that we should find a job as quickly as possible." y/n replied while shaking her head.
Aunt Nanako opened her mouth to speak but was then interrupted due to the sound of someone entering the room. "I'm home" a deep monotone voice said.
"Welcome back Langa!" aunt Nanako greeted as she went over to greet her son.
"Oh y/n, you're already here. Do you want to leave right now?" Langa asked as soon as he spotted the girl.
"Yeah sure, we can leave right now." y/n replied as she walked over. Langa nodded and turned back towards the door.
"We'll be leaving now." Langa announced as he opened the door for the both of them.
"Be safe!" aunt Nanako said before seeing them off.
As Langa and y/n walked down the streets of Okinawa, y/n was rather confused on where he was leading them to as he walked as if he knew where they were going. "Hey, where are we heading off to first?" y/n asked as she looked up at him.
"I found a place where they give a good paying wage so I wanted to stop by there first." Langa told as he kept walking, not bothering to look at y/n. y/n nodded and then kept quiet, guessing he's probably tired from school so he didn't want to talk.
The place they ended up in front looked very elegant and traditional. It looks very expensive as well so y/n can understand why Langa said that it gives a good salary. They then walked into the place and head over to meet their interviewer who was upstairs waiting for them.
"I'm here now, thank you for the wait." Langa apologized as he slide open a door. Inside there was a man dressed in a navy blue yukata, sitting behind a table with a tea set in front of him. He had long beautiful pink hair similar to a sakura flower and bright golden eyes that was shimmering behind a pair of glasses.
'Wow..he's beautiful' y/n thought to herself.◈ ━━━━━━ ⸙ ━━━━━━ ◈
