Remus

I was the happiest I'd been in a while. I still lived with Josh, mostly ignoring him, so besides that, life was good. But.. going to the classes I liked, going to my parents for moons, hanging out at james' place most days, getting tea everyday.. It was nice. I liked Lily just as much as I did my other friends. I had friends. I had four amazing friends and I was happy.

So, of course, it didn't last. I told my friends that I was visiting my parents and I went for the moon. Besides the anxiety of the coming moon and the symptoms of it, there was also the fact that sometime soon they are going to be suspicious. But i didn't need to think of that. Honestly.. I almost let myself think it was going to be okay, telling them.

"Remus.. Hey.''

"Mum? Is everything okay?"

"Remus, baby," she hugged me but I was tense. "It'll be okay."

"Mum?"

"Yes?"

"Please tell me what's going on."

"Well.. you know how i was working at the hospital part time?"

'Of course..?"

"..i'm not anymore."

"Oh mum, did you get fired?'

"Well-"

"Ah remus." my father said a little stiff

"Father, what's going on?'

My father was a direct honest kinda man. He would tell you the truth no matter what it was. "Your mother can't work anymore, she got breast cancer."

"She- oh.." I fell to my knees. "Why is she here and not the hospital??"

"She just was. Son, it'll be fine, not all women die in cases of breast cancer."

"You are calm about this??" I yelled at him. "She might not die but she's still sick! Wait.. does wizards have a cure-"

He interrupted, "Son, she's a muggle."

"I know that." i spat

"Calm down. You know the laws."

"Do we or do we not have the cure?"

"Well.."

"Father!"

He sighed heavily. "It's been a while since you called me anything but that."

I scoffed. "Answer the question."

"Remus. We can't."

"By law or by ability?"

"..by law."

I cried.

"Son, please."

"W-what are the options."

"Surgery." mum said

"That's it?"

"There's also some drugs." my mum added hesitantly

"They are expensive." my father said firmly

"I'll pay for my own room and university."

"You can't!'

"Yes, son, you should, you need to get a job that'll work around your.. problem."

"I know."

'But we still can't.'

That moon wasn't easy, it never was, but when I was stressed, the wolf was more so. I stayed with my parents longer than i really should've. I missed a few classes and ignored most of my friends' texts. Pretty much all they knew was that I'm alive.
