... I wanted to make the ending of this kind of meta even though it ended months ago shut up /j
We'll just pretend Thomas has kept his family a secret to his YouTube audience. And that Netflix and all the stuff referenced in the last book existed in the early 90s, or that this is an alternate universe Thomas that made the exact same content just in the 2050s.
---------------------
Thomas sat in front of the mirror wiping the eyeshadow from below his eyes. He always felt weird applying so much make-up for his characters, especially Virgil and Janus. After all he was employed to dress up at his family members and film himself talking to himself. It seemed weird to think about really - so Thomas avoided thinking too deeply about it most of the time.
Although Thomas' fans believed Thomas to just have an active imagination when he created the famous Sanders Sides characters that was far from the truth. In all reality every single one of his characters was based off a member of his mismatched family: the Windsor family. When he began Vine he pretended to have the surname Sanders because of his love of KFC and then when he moved to YouTube he took characters from those previous Vines and created them as 'Sides'. A fanbase came because of that and he enjoyed seeing people relate and dress up as the characters he brainstormed, although he still had yet to reveal they were all real people.
When Thomas was adopted at almost 3 years old the Windsor family were complete strangers - but he soon warmed up to them. One of his fathers, Logan, was smart and calm and confident. He had a soft spot hidden deep inside that he was often teased over when his kids all got older. Logan's husband, Roman, wore his heart on his sleeve. Most of Thomas' early memories was playing royals with his fathers and Roman always protected his family from Dragon Witches. Thomas also had two older brothers growing up named Patton and Virgil. Patton was the oldest (3 months older than Virgil) and therefore acted like another father figure and took after Roman's optimism and slight naivety. Virgil was a lot quieter and started having mental health issues in middle school, but as an adult he'd overcome his struggles and was the person you'd go to if you needed a silent place to think or distract yourself. Janus was Roman's ex-fiance who entered the Windsor life slowly but everyone welcomed him and Thomas viewed him as an uncle. Roman also had a brother called Remus who was... interesting. And lastly Thomas' less expanded on characters, Remy and Emile, were his grandparents who Thomas was also close to.
Thomas' phone vibrated and lit up, showing a text from his oldest brother: 'hey kiddo! Guess who came to visit...' The text was read in Thomas' head with Patton's voice, and he chuckled as he walked downstairs. When the door opened Patton appeared with a batch of cookies. He was surprised none of his nieces and nephews were beside him, but he assumed they were all at school. "Tommy! Have you just finished filming?" Patton laughed as he walked in. Although he was almost in character Patton's costume himself with a blue jacket, a white bob hat and white slightly ripped jeans.
"Just done all my Virgil lines... Isn't Verge coming later?" Patton and Thomas walked into the living room together, Thomas made Patton's favourite (and most sugary) coffee and a cup of tea for himself. He also made sure he had enough coffee beans for his other brother's black coffee. Every so often the Windsor family reunited at one of the many houses they each owned. Sometimes just the brothers hung out, sometimes their parents joined them, and sometimes it was a whole family affair. Thomas loved it - he loved his family.
"Mhm! And Dad and Padre too. But you know what day it is?" Patton got quieter as he asked the question, giggling slightly as Thomas raised an eyebrow and tilted his head. The two sat opposite each other with soft smiles at their warm beverages. "It's their anniversary!"
"I thought they got married in August before I came..."
Patton giggled again, getting more excited by the second. "No not that one! Their dating anniversary, when Logan stopped being a single mess!"
