"Kanao, why do you always flip a coin when you need to decide something?" Tanjiro asked, speaking carefully.
"I have trouble deciding things on my own. I guess some stuff to do with my childhood," Kanao sighed, holding the grip of her sword tightly.
Tanjiro nodded, stopping in his tracks. "Before we get to the village, can I do something?" He asked, turning to face Kanao.
"Yes," Kanao responded.
Tanjiro reached over to her skirt pocket, digging through for a while until he felt the cold metal graze against his hand.
He took the coin out of her pocket, flipping in insanely high into the air.
"If it lands on heads, that means you have to start making decisions on your own!" He shouted, running over to where the coin would fall.
After only a couple second Tanjiro felt the light sting of the coin in his hands. Without looking, he walked over to Kanao.
"Tails means you keep using the coin," he smiled, unraveling his fingers to reveal a heads side up coin.
Tanjiro shouted in joy, throwing his fists in the air. Kanao quickly shoved her coin back in her pocket, grabbing Tanjiro's hand and dragging him back down the path.
"You know Tanjiro, you can be pretty childish when you want to be," Kanao laughed.
"Yeah well I grew up being the oldest child in the house," Tanjiro giggled.
Kanao suddenly skidded to a stop, admiring the view of the village. The two stood under a tall tree with purple leaves, still holding hands.
Kanao's stomach felt like an ocean current. She was standing on a cliff under a beautiful tree, pretty purple leaves falling on her and her crushes heads. Not to mention the beautiful village view.
Kanao turned her head to face Tanjiro, before noticing something that nearly made her heart jump out of her chest. They were still holding hands.
Kanao was shocked about how she didn't realize early, considering Tanjiro's hand was really warm. Bright red blush crept up on her face as she scooted closer to Tanjiro.
Now the two were side by side, holding hands.
"Tanjiro, thank you so much." Kanao said, feeling something spark in her stomach.
"Huh? What're you thanking me for, Kanao?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
"Tanjiro, you make me feel... happy." She sniffled, tightening her grip on his hand.
"I thought you said you had trouble with emotions?" Tanjiro questioned.
"I do. And that's exactly the thing. Tanjiro Kamado, you are the first person in years that has ever been able to make me feel as happy as I am now." She sighed, a couple tears rolling down her cheeks. Tears of joy of course.
"Kanao.. you make me feel insanely happy too. Like, you make my heart jump out of my chest type happy." He smiled nervously.
He pulled her closer, embracing her in a warm hug. Kanao set her head on Tanjiro's shoulder, taking in the strong smell of vanilla.
Tanjiro was no longer an acquaintance, no. Tanjiro was no longer a friend either.
Tanjiro was no longer Kanao's crush.
Tanjiro Kamado was the love of her life.
She squeezed tighter, wrapping both of her arms around his back, burying her face into the crook of his neck.
Tanjiro took in the coolness that radiated off of Kanao's body. It felt extremely nice to him, as it was pretty sunny outside and he was getting hot.
Tanjiro's stomach twisted and turned, it felt as if he was on the worlds highest roller coaster.
"Well well, what do we have here? A couple? Cliche," a sinister voice said.
Tanjiro and Kanao pulled away from each others embrace quickly, each of them reaching down to whip out there swords.
"Show yourself!" Tanjiro screamed. It felt as if the world was turning.
The demon walked out of the bush. He was really tall, a close guess would be about 6'3.
He had shoulder length lilac purple hair with black eyes and insanely long fangs.
Tanjiro pointed his sword towards the demon.
"You even think about touching her and you've got a lot of things coming," Tanjiro scoffed, motioning towards Kanao.
"Tanjiro it's fine I got-" Kanao started to speak.
"Then i'll just kill you first, then I'll kill her once your lifeless on the ground." The purple haired demon snarled.
Tanjiro let out a loud battle cry, lunging at the demon. The demon dodged for the most part, but Tanjiro was able to cut his arm off.
All of the sudden, Tanjiro had a great idea. He used his leg to kick up a bunch of dirt and rocks, making it so the demon couldn't see his movements. Then, Tanjiro jumped on top of the nearest tree.
"Wel- hey!? Where'd you go?" The demon shouted, scanning the area intently.
Luckily the demon had backed towards Tanjiro's tree just enough that he could land an attack if he jumped down.
Quickly, he positioned his sword, hopping off of the tree with only slight hesitation before slicing the demons head off with ease.
"Kanao, are you alright?" He asked, running over to her immediately.
"Yes yes, I have no injuries. What about you?"
"No, he didn't get a chance to land an attack on me." Tanjiro responded.
"Good," Kanao sighed. "Tanjiro, can we.. can we continue what we were doing before?..." She asked, fidgeting with her hands.
Tanjiro was so surprised his heart almost jumped right out of his chest. He grabbed her hand softly leading her back over to the cliff, embracing her in the tightest hug possible.
"I'm glad you didn't get hurt, be careful out there Kanao."
