Late Nights

💜 Shinso's Birthday Special 💜

Midoriya had given the Shinso the day off and Kaminari had managed to get another half day. Kaminari had forced Shinso to go to sleep last night by tricking him into taking some melatonin saying that he should sleep in on his birthday. Shinso was about to go out into the kitchen and scold the blond for tricking him when he saw that Kaminari was making him a cup of coffee, how could he stay mad at that?

"Before you say anything, I'm sorry for tricking you into sleeping but you looked like you were dying. I made coffee to make it up to you though!" Kaminari smiled, holding out the fresh brewed cup. "Happy birthday babe."

"I could never stay mad at you, and thank you." He grabbed his coffee and gave Kaminari a quick kiss before sitting down at the kitchen island.

"Blegh, morning breath." Kaminari complained, jokingly sticking his tongue out.

"Whatever, now get going before you're late." Shinso reminded Kaminari after looking at the time.

He watched in amusement as the other male finished his cereal in a hurry and shoved his shoes on, shouting a goodbye before closing the door, leaving Shinso alone in the apartment. After making a few frozen waffles, he went to the living room and turned the tv on. A few episodes later the show he was watching ended, Shinso got up with a sigh and went to clean his. After washing the dishes he saw a piece lying on the counter and grabbed it. It was the card to the adoption center that that kid had given Kaminari the other day. He put it back down and wandered around the house for a bit.

"Well I'm bored," Shinso shrugged, then again talked into the emptiness of the apartment. "I guess I'm going for a walk then."

After changing into a comfortable t-shirt and pair of jeans he was out the door and walking around aimlessly, stopping every now and then to check out a store that piqued his interest. Some time later Shinso had to do a double take on a building he passed by. It was the adoption center, in the side yard sat a familiar looking girl with deep blue hair pulled into a messy braid and chocolate brown eyes hugging a Chargebolt plush and drawing in a coloring book.

"How di- when did I get here?" Shinso mumbled, looking around in confusion.

About an hour after Kaminari was supposed to have been home he burst through the door with a wide grin on his face. Shinso was in the living room cringing at the show playing on the tv getting up after he heard the thud of something heavy being set on a counter.

"Toshi!" Kaminari called from the kitchen in the annoying childish tone he uses when he wants something. "Come here but keep your eyes closed!"

When Shinso arrived in the kitchen with his eyes closed, Kaminari jumped on him causing him to stumble and almost fall. Shinso wrapped his arms around the shorter males waist, who then wrapped his legs around Shinso's waist and kissed him.

"You can open your eyes now," Kaminari said, still clinging around Shinso.

Opening his eyes, Shinso first looked at the excited face of his fiancé, then to the kitchen table which had a pet carrier and box of supplies next to it. He looked at the excited face inches from his, then back to the carrier where he saw a white tail flash behind the bars, then back to the boy he was holding.

"You didn't-" Shinso started, looking in awe at the figure behind the bars, then going over and setting Kaminari down to get a closer look.

"Happy birthday!" Kaminari cheered.

Shinso carefully opened the cage and pulled out a grey kitten with a white tail and front left paw, and ears. The kitten's body was so small and warm as Shinso gently hugged it closer to him, being extra careful not to hurt it. It mewed up at him, causing his heart to ache as he looked back up at Kaminari.

"They said his name was Speck and that he is 7 months old, and don't worry I did some research and got everything we need for him and then some." Kaminari said, fairly proud of himself.

"I love you so much." Shinso whispered, gently petting the purring kitten.

"I know you do." Kaminari smugly replied.

Shinso put the cat back in its carrier, causing it to mew in disappointment, then grabbed a few pieces of paper off the top of the fridge, receiving a curious look from Kaminari.

"I decided to go for a walk today," Shinso started, "and I found myself standing in-front of a certain building. Normally I take more time to think before doing things like this, but I figured you wouldn't be too mad with my decision."

Shinso handed the papers to Kaminari and watched him put a hand over his mouth and start crying. The sobbing blond looked up at him in disbelief. Shinso wrapped Kaminari in a hug before speaking in a soft voice,

"We are now parental guardians of a sweet six year old girl by the name of Mika." Shinso said, whipping the joyful tears off of Kaminari's face. "And she still doesn't know that her other parent is also her favorite pro hero. Would you like to go tell her the good news?"

Kaminari smiled and nodded his head, slowly walking into the living room where Mika, happily watching a kids show, snacking on some chips and hugging her Chargebolt plush. Kaminari wiped the tears off of his face and cleared his throat, causing Mika to turn her head.

"Hello again Mika." Kaminari said, with one of his famously bright smiles.

"Mr. Chargebolt!" Mika got up, dropping everything and running over to jump into Kaminari's arms.

"Dad, why is Chargebolt here?" Mika asked, turning to look at Shinso, which caused Kaminari to smile even brighter.

"Because he is your other dad." Shinso said, trying his best not to cry his own tears of joy at the way Mika's face lit up.

"So I get to call him my daddy now?" she asked, turning to look at him, receiving a happy head nod from Kaminari.

Shinso engulfed them in a hug, and they just stood there happily smiling for a few minutes. They were a family now. Kaminari soon interrupted the comfortable silence.

"And because it's Hito- your dad's birthday today, you get to meet a bunch of other pro hero's tonight at his birthday party."

Shinso laughed a little as Mika's jaw dropped while listening to Kaminari list the hero names of their old classmates.

I almost cried while writing this because of how happy they are. When adopting Mika he got her last name changed to Kaminari. Also because I love Mika so much I'm going to try and do everyone's reaction to meeting Mika, and her reaction to meeting them. I'm going to work on that little extra after I do the next chapter to Complications the other fic I'm working on.
