I was waiting for Dean in the lobby of his dorms after the hard loss against Iceland. I had sat down on a lounge chair in the lobby and was reading a random magazine when the door opened and in walked 14 hockey players, all looking down at their feet. I immediately spotted Dean, him being taller than the rest. He saw me and made a beeline over to where I was sitting. I could tell he was pissed. "Hey babe." "Hey." I stood up and pushed him down on the seat and then I sat on his lap. "Talk to me." "I got ejected three seconds into the game. Three! I didn't even know it was possible to get ejected that early in the game. Then they lost the game by 16. 16 freaking points!" "Hey... calm down. It doesn't sound like there was much you could've done to prevent that if you were in the game. It's not your fault." That seemed to be the wrong thing to say. He jumped out of the seat, throwing me onto the ground. I stood up. "Nothing I could've done?" He yelled. Judging by the looks on everyone's faces, I could tell they were annoyed. I grabbed his arm. "Let's take this outside." I pulled him outside.
"You really think there's nothing I could've done? Do you think that lowly of me? Am I that unskilled to you?" I didn't hear any of this. He then grabbed onto my shoulders. "Are you even listening to me?" I looked up to him, the tears glistening in my eyes. "Why are you crying? I'm the one that's upset!" I gestured to him my once white t-shirt, now almost entirely soaked with red. "Wha..." "You pushed me off of you when you stood up you idiot. Did you even see what happened? I landed on your open hockey bag, and guess what happened to be on top? Your skate that the cover had come off of! Look at my arm!" His eyes widened. "I'm sorry... I love you I didn't mean to blow up on you like that." "Clearly, I'm the love of your life until I make you mad." I turned and walked off, looking for the nearest urgent care to treat my arm.

the next day
I got up and to make my way to the rink to watch USA play Germany. Fighting with Dean or not, I still loved him and wanted to watch him play. I put on a sweatshirt I stole from him and a pair of his old sweats that he let me wear one night. I slipped on my slides with my Nike socks and set out the door. I got to the rink and avoided my usual seat behind USA's box and instead opted for a higher up seat. I sat down and watched the game unfold. Next thing you know, the game was over and they had won. I stayed in my seat, wanting to wait until USA left to leave, but Dean had other ideas. I was sitting as I felt a presence beside me. I turned to see the one and only Dean Portman. "Baby I'm so sorry for the way I acted yesterday. It was totally uncalled for and I promise I'll never do it again." "Do you love me, want me, hate me, boy I don't understand." "I love you, Y/n." "I'll accept your apology, but you have to understand, you can't act that way towards me. You can't take your anger out on me. I'm your girlfriend, not your punching bag." "I understand." I smiled and he pulled me onto his lap and into a kiss. We both smiled into it. Everything was back to normal.
