"Joey, wake up." A loud voice screams and I groan in response. "Joey, get up. There's some hunky man here to see you." Peyton says, immediately catching my attention causing me to fall out of bed. Peyton bursts out into loud laughter. "What, who?" I ask, pushing myself off the cold floor. "I dunno, says his name's Gavin something." She shrugs, her laughter finally dying down. "Ah crap." I groan. "Well hurry up, he's waiting in the living room." "YOU LET HIM IN?" I whisper yell. "Well yeah, I wasn't gonna leave the poor dude in the cold now hurry up. I'll chat him up for a bit." She says before exiting the room and closing the door behind her. I glance at myself in the mirror to find my naturally curly hair sticking up in all directions and there's a bit of mascara smeared under my eyes. I quickly wipe it and brush my hair out. My Hair is still frizzy and poofy so I pull it into a messy bun on top of my head that is less than perfect but it would have to do. I quickly pull on a t-shirt over my sports bra and legging before taking a deep breath and going to meet Gavin. As I enter the living room he nervously rises to his feet from his position on the couch where he was speaking with Peyton. "Hey, um good morning Joey. You look beautiful." Gavin speaks nervously, his face reddening a bit. "Aw thank you but I honestly just woke up. Anyways, what's up?" I ask the handsome doctor, my curiosity peaking as to why he's in my home. "Oh, um. You left your phone in my car last night." He says, holding the sleek metal in his hand. "Oh my gosh. I was so tired, I didn't even notice. Thank you so much." I say, taking the device from his hand and enveloping him into a hug. His muscular arm immediately wrap around me, giving me a sense of security and I once again inhale the scent of his cologne. After several minutes I pull back. "Well, thanks for dropping by." I say, clearing my throat awkwardly and distancing myself from him. "Um no problem." He says checking his watch. "I should go, I have work. But I'll see you soon?" He asks, making his way to my door with me in tow. "Absolutely." I respond standing in the door frame as he stands outside. "Okay, Um. I'll text you." He smiles before walking off and I close the door quietly.
"Oh my word! You guys are so cute I can't handle it!" Peyton squeals as I sit myself down on the couch. "We're just friends, and he's my doctor." I say, sipping on some coffee. "oooooh. Dr. Hunky." She smirks, wiggling her eyebrows. "Oh shut up." I say, hitting her with a pillow before flipping on the television the today show. Peyton and I watch in silence until a commercial break comes on. "So, me and you still on for girls night tonight?" She asks excitedly. I nod, pouring myself a bowl of cereal. "Yup sounds good." I respond, as my phone goes off with a text message from Lucy. She's asking if I want to hang out. "Peyton i'm going out for the day but i'll be back around five okay?" i say, heading back to my bedroom. "alright." She says quietly and I close my bedroom door behind me. I go to the bathroom and flip on the shower water to get it warmed up, and I go to my closet to pick out an outfit. I pull out a pair of black jeans, a grey v-neck shirt and green jacket before I step under the hot water, my muscles instantly relaxing. After a thirty minute shower I get dressed and let my hair dry into it's natural waves before grabbing my bag with all my necessities and walking to the Starbucks down the street where Lucy wanted to meet. As busy people pass me by I study them, it's kinda fun. Just to people watch. In my reverie a voice interrupts me and i'm joined by Lucy. "Hi, I'm sorry I'm late. Oliver was throwing a hissy fit because he couldn't find a certain shirt." She explains, giving me a small smile. "It's no big." I respond.
After several hours Lucy and I have yet to run out of things to talk about, and I have gathered a lot of information on my new friend and I know she has learned a lot about me as well. I quickly glance at my watch and see that it is nearly four thirty. "Hey Lucy, its been awesome hanging out with you but i've got to run." I speak, standing to my feet. "Let's do this again sometime yeah?" I ask, grabbing my bag as she stands to her feet. "Definitely."
When I arrive back at the apartment, Peyton is already dressed and ready to go. "Finally. Go get dressed." She demands and I do as she says, without a word. I find a nice pair of jeans and a white camisole with a light, black jacket over it. I lightly curl my hair before pulling it back into a loose ponytail and then putting on some mascara and slipping on some black flats. "You ready?" I ask Peyton, once I've stepped out of my room. "Yes! Let's Go!" she shouts, pulling me along by my arm, onto the busy streets where the sun is starting to set and the lights begin to twinkle. "Peyton, where are we going?" I groan, after we've been walking for ten minutes. "Just a few more minutes, it's a surprise." I can see a devious smile begin to grow on her face and I have a feeling that this night is not going to end well.
After a while Peyton finally pulls me into a bar. "Peyton, why are we at a bar. You know I don't drink." I say, glaring a bit as we weave through bodies. "I know but I do, and you said I get to pick. so just have fun, live a little, let loose. You're so uptight." She tells me before immediately ordering a drink from the bartender. I roll my eyes and lean up against the bar before ordering a sprite and taking a seat next to Peyton, but within moments she has guys swarming around her. I feel uncomfortable so I take to sipping my fizzy drink and scan the room. As I assess the room, I find there are many drunks here, once more reminding me why I don't drink.
"Alright Ladies and Gentleman, it's time for karaoke so please welcome the king of sing here at Horan's pub," I turn my attention to the stage when the guy begins to talk and I expect him to call out a name but he doesn't, instead everybody claps. Man, these people must all be regulars. As the person who was introduced steps on stage and the music begins to play, my mouth literally drops and i have to hold in my laughter. Ladies and gentleman, my cardiologist, Dr. Gavin Beckham is on stage singing karaoke to Uptown Funk. As he sings along he dances around the bar, clearly enjoying himself and I discreetly pull out my phone to record him. "Hey, isn't that your doctor?" Peyton asks, leaning over. "I believe it is." I tell her letting out a loud laugh. I can hardly contain myself, but thankfully he has yet to notice me. As he ends the song I end the recording and he unknowingly takes a seat beside me. "That was, pretty cool." I say, before taking a sip of my drink. "Thanks glad you like--- Joey, you saw that?'" He asks, finally turning his attention to me and his face turns bright red. I let out a loud laugh. "Oh yeah, I saw it all doctor. But I don't think I'll ever be able to look at you the same again." I tell him, wiping the tears from laughter away from my eyes. "Look, please don't tell anyone about this. It's just something i do for fun, my colleges would never respect me if they heard about this." He says to me. "I don't know," I shrug pulling out my phone, "This was pretty entertaining." I say pressing play and letting him watch his own performance. "Joey," He says grabbing my arm and pulling me closer to him, making my heart race a bit, "Please don't tell anyone." I let out a big sigh. "Fine, but i'm keeping the video, it's hilarious."
