----------------VIENNA, AUSTRIA --------------
9th of November
Four days later

"Damn it!" I mumbled; I hated having to run in heels, but I did anyway, about five minutes after Louis rushed out the door of the cocktail bar where we were all drinking for Hayley's birthday, after a talk with the rest of The Scarecrows; a talk that turned into an argument. The lights were already on in the streets, even if it was only afternoon. The sky had turned colourful, with the shades of an upcoming sunset; pastel purple mixing with the blue, along with the dark orange of the long – gone sunlight, wiping away another afternooon. Everything looked so much more beautiful during that time of the day; we were in downtown Vienna, surrounded by buildings looking like a movie set and, between of it all, a bridge, a wide, stone – paved pedestrian walkway with statues on each side, with the Danube River flowing underneath, reflecting the vibrant sky.

It didn't take me long to spot his figure, among the strangers walking up and down the bridge. Standing still on the side, his face towards the fading sunset, one hand in the pocket of his black jeans and his other hand fidgeting with a lit-up cigarette. My high heels echoed on the paved road as each footstep brought me closer, the sound evaporating over people's voices.

The calm breeze was hitting against my face. It felt good - I wasn't cold, even if I was only wearing a tight, short red dress under my fur jacket. I hadn't even grabbed my bag as I left the bar; I only took my Polaroid camera and hoped that someone would remember to grab my bag before they left. Because, as I could tell, Louis wouldn't get back there – and neither would I.

On the other end of the bridge, far across the distance, I suddenly noticed what the rest of Jupiter were talking about earlier that morning; the Astronomical Clock Tower of Vienna. Which, essentially, was exactly that; a tall tower, with a huge clock on it – and I had no idea why it was called astronomical. It was so huge and imposing compared to its surrounding buildings, and its roof so sharp, like it would tear the early evening sky in two. Beneath our feet, on the waver, yachts and boats were calmly floating. Damn – it was all too much and too pretty to take in, like I couldn't fit it all in my eyes. Still, I took a Polaroid of the bridge with the Tower in the distance as I approached Louis.

"Damn, you really handle things well."

Louis chuckled. "Fuck them," he exhaled a cloud of smoke, a tinge of anger still obvious in his voice.

My hand ran under his leather jacket and over his light blue shirt. My fingers made their way around his waist, and I tucked myself closer to him just to feel his warmth. His scent surrounded me like a spell, as he pulled me closer. I found my place in his arms, but I could sense he was still tense.

"Running away doesn't solve things, Lou."

With the corner of my eye, I saw one of our security guards quickly approaching us, gazing around in suspicion.

"Is everything alright?"

I could distinguish the outline of a handgun in the pocket of the security guard's bulky suit.

Are security guards even allowed to have handguns? I thought only the police could do that.

"Yes, thank you," I nodded in agreement. By experience, I could tell that the security guards didn't like it when me and Louis just left, without letting them know. But he smiled at us before he stepped away, not saying another world; a moment of silence before Louis continued.
