I groaned. Three years after that bolt that should have killed me (but didn't) I was completely healed.

Except for the fact that I still had pain in my chest every time I became out of breath. It was annoying and the fact that Lupa continually said that it would get better soon WAS NOT reassuring.

I had to stay on the moon until I was near or completely healed. Lupa said that, of course, I was never heal and that, of course, I would never be the same. But that I had healed as much as I could and wouldn't be able to heal any more than what Ihad already healed.

He's frustrating. Really frustrating. And confusing. But, he's the closest thing to a father. My father died when I was a young Lass.

You may be wondering why I can't travel back to see him. I cannot cross my own timeline for fear of creating a wormhole.

I learned all about those blasted things. See, they're these things that happen when you do something wrong. What happens is this: You go back into the past and change something. Then everything is changed. These creatures start coming in and out of these holes in the fabric of space and time continum and boom! They start wreaking havoc. The only way to stop them is to change what happened. Now, I'm not sure about the future and past of others ... but I, for one, can't go back on my own timeline.

Lupa made me watch this thing called Doctor Who that explained it all. It was really quite convincing.

I looked up in confusion as I saw a dark fog spread on the Earth. Pretty soon, it would cover all of England.

"Lupa?" I asked my mentor.

The great wolf got up and walked over to me, staring gravely at Earth. "I was afraid this would happen."

"What?" I asked.

"Whenever you create a new Guardian, there's always a risk that you'll create a villain to go along with it. One to cancel out the other."

"Who is this one, then?" I asked, tilting my head to the left.

Lupa closed his eyes for awhile.

It was so long before he answered that I was afraid he had fallen asleep. "Mastermind. He ... is the anti-Ben, if you will."

I nodded slowly.

I hadn't seen Ben for awhile. I had only seen him protecting a little girl; running around a gray haired man shouting something about demigods overtaking Olympus; whispering magical spells to a woman; putting pineapples on a thing that was round with tomato sause on it. That was all I had seen of the Guardian of Imagination.

A breeze ruffled my hair and I smiled slightly.

Every year about this time, I would deliver treats to children. All I had to do was snap my fingers.

POOF! Presents.

POOF! Easter eggs.

POOF! Teeth were collected.

POOF! Wonderful dreams.

I loved my job. I felt like I was doing something.

Lupa looked at me, slight anger pulsing in his left eye, concern in his right.
