The heavy footsteps of Mila and Rumlow engulfed all of her senses. The tear that had escaped her right eye was gone and had left a stain running down her cheek. The flush of her cheeks flooded throughout her whole body. Mila felt overcome of heat and nerves as she stood in front of the metal door opening to Pierce's makeshift office.

She knocked, the metal cooling off her hot knuckles. Mila waited until he announced that she could come in. Her breath hitched as she grasped the door handle and pushed in down, entering the room. Immediately she felt the life drain from her. There in front of her, holding a gun directly at her, was Pierce. A smirk played at his lips, he let out a chuckle at the face she made when she saw him.

"Not so brave anymore are we, Viper," he spat. Mila straightened herself, let a cold look wash over her face. She didn't dare break her gaze from Pierce. Something in him shifted, he tilted his head to the left slightly. "They've changed you, haven't they?"

Still pointing the gun at her, Pierce stepped forward. "Rogers and Romanoff, what a pair don't you think?" He was taunting her, she knew that. Mila didn't flinch nor break her stare. In fact, she even took a step forward.

"Don't think you can get cocky with me girl. If I wanted you dead, your brains would be on display on these walls right now. There's a reason I haven't punished you for failing your mission. I know Steve Rogers took you in retaliation". Pierce took another step forward, the barrel of the gun almost touching her forehead.

Mila realized something, Pierce thought that Steve and Nat had taken her, stole her. She knew the truth and finally, for the first time in her life Mila had the upper hand. She bit back a smirk. "I'm going to let you walk free Mila, but just this once. Tomorrow, when Project Insight is a go, your face will be all over it," he lifted the gun off her head, "and I can't have the new face of Hydra be a damaged one can I?" He brushed his finger down the side of her face.

Mila bit down on her lip hard to stop the hate flowing through her, that didn't stop the sudden wave of confidence from engulfing her though. "No, we wouldn't want that. So I suggest you lay off the threats from here on out. You and I both know you can't kill me so stop pretending you can," her voice was cold and concentrated.

Pierce looked taken a back, he paled and she could see a vein popping out of his neck. Mila smirked and the smirk stayed on her face even after he slapped her. She laughed and touched the spot which he struck. "Now, now. Don't want to waste your energy on a little girl when you have an important meeting to attend sir," she pointed to the calendar that hung above his desk, "that wouldn't be very wise".

Pierce grew red in the face and Mila couldn't help but laugh. "Get out, we leave in three hours. Do not mess this up you little shit or I swear on your father's life, I will make you pay," he growled. Mila just looked at him and nodded her head lazily.

She bowed mockingly before leaving the room, feeling as though on cloud nine. Whatever took over her was extraordinary and she never wanted that feeling to leave. Pierce was right, they had changed her. Natasha Romanoff had changed her. And boy, did Mila love it.

Dawn had come and Mila could see the bright orange of the morning sky through the window of the car. Her new suit was well equip with everything she might need. Pierce had explained her mission to her with a permanent scowl on his face that even Rumlow couldn't help but smirk over.

As she sat in the back of the armored car, Mila could feel her papa's gaze on her. It was burning a hole through her head. She turned to face him, "What?" She whispered.

He said nothing, just reached over the empty seat between them and placed his flesh hand on her knee. Mila knew what that meant, he wanted more than anything to tell her to be safe, not to screw around. He needed her to come back in one piece. She was comforted by the fact that no matter what the mission was, her papa was always there to come back to.
