Nightmares~ Yelena Belova x reader

you woke up to the sound of screaming, it was loud since it was the room right next to yours, your mind wasn't fully awake yet to completely process the scream.

You stood up from your bed, making sure not to fall as there was no light. you make your way to the bed room door and peak outside, there was nothing in the hallway so you walked out. when your eyes were getting used to the darkness around you, you suddenly remembered whose room was next to yours, it was Yelena's room. the woman who you were deathly afraid of, the woman who looked like she'd kill you with ease which i'm sure she could.

you carefully opened the door, searching for the shaken up woman inside, there she was, balled up with her head in her knees crying, her small whimpers made you feel horrible. if you weren't so terrified you would have already crawled into bed with and hugged her tightly, but you just gradually made your way onto the bed, careful to not startle her.

you reached out your right hand and gently set it on her back, her head quickly turned up, revealing her bloodshot eyes and a tear soaked face, you were worried deeply about her. you expected her to decline your affection but instead, she gently laid her head onto your chest, and wrapped her arms around your waist. you gently wrap your right arm around her waist before asking, "is this okay?" quietly, she responds "mhm" while nodding her head, you pull her closer towards you. she reaches for your left hand, intertwining it with hers. you can feel her tears fall onto your skin, but you choose to ignore it as the woman who you once knew as closed off, had collapsed her body into your arms. "thank you for this" she said in a soft voice, sniffling slightly, you smile as you respond with "you're welcome, goodnight Yelena" you smile begins to fade as your tiredness begins to grow. The woman's breaths begin to slow down to a repetitive pace and her heart begins to become louder and her small snores began to seem like music to your ears, as your eyes fell shut.

You never thought you'd ever be so close to the woman who terrified you most, but here you are, with her asleep on your chest and your arms wrapped tightly around her waist, you couldn't help but smile.

This isn't so bad.
