Mumbles came from behind the door. I caught fragments of what they were saying, but it was too confusing to piece together.
The man dress in white, door slammer, reappeared in the doorway. Behind him entered a young boy, not too much older than I was. There was something about him that I just couldn't quiet put my finger on.
"Hi, I'm Cole." His dirty blonde hair looked all too familiar.
The lady sitting next to me stood up and smiled towards Cole, who was still standing in the doorway. "Cole found you in the forest, lying asleep in the snow. Thank goodness he found you when he did......"
Her voice seemed to fade. He was the only thing today that had made sense. And I realised why.
My hair stood on end, a shiver raced down my spine and a lump came to my throat. It was him...
I felt my blood race around my body in fear. I pushed my back into the pillow I was leaning against. I wanted to get as far away from him as possible. Flashes of a dream I recently had come flooding into my head. Standing alone in the pouring rain, soaked to the bone and then him.
"GET...AWAY...FROM...ME," I yelled at him in a slow, stern tone. I pulled up the sheets until they reached my chin.
Cole's expression changed from proud to dismay. He rushed to my side and sat down.
My blood was racing so fast, I thought I was going to evaporate into thin air. I couldn't move. Glued to the bed because of my stupid feet. I mean why did I have fall asleep in the snow?
Darkness settled around me like it had nothing better to do. I lay on my back, staring up at the ceiling I couldn't see. Cole was gone and so were the nurse and the rude doctor. My head was thumping louder than a bass drum, I swear. I stretched my arm and let my fingers fall on the top of my head. It was numb. How did I have a bruise on my head? I didn't hit anything.
