"I... don't think I did this right," Jay said, a little disappointed, holding his hopeless attempt at a flower crown out. It hung limp in his hands; the daisies were missing petals, some of their stems were half broken. He frowned. He'd really wanted to get it right this time.

"Hm?" Cole looked up from his book, pulling his headphones around his neck to listen to his boyfriend. His eyes drifted down to where Jay was holding the flower crown, if you could really call it that. "It's cute," he said.

"What do you mean! It's so bad." Jay almost through the crown down, exasperated.

Cole motioned for Jay to pass it to him, and when he took it in his fingers, he inspected it closely. "It is cute. But I can help you make a better one, if you want."

Jay nodded eagerly, shifting through the long strands of grass to sit next to Cole. He picked up a bunch of daises that he'd collected, and passed them to Cole.

"Okay, let's see..." Cole muttered to himself, picking up a daisy. He expertly made a small hole through the stem, then he picked up another, tying them together with a knot. Jay watched, though he found himself distracted by staring at his boyfriend's handsome features. Perfect body, perfect jaw structure, perfect hair and perfect hands that looked as though they would fit perfectly into Jay's.

"-hello? Jaybird? Jay?" Cole waved a hand in front of his face, holding out a finished flower crown. Where did it come from? Had he drifted off in thought for that long? "Your finished crown, my king." Cole made an exaggerated bowing gesture that made Jay giggle.

"Thank you." He said, lowering his head so Cole could place the crown there. He did, messy curly hair looking awfully good with the addition of daisies.

Cole kissed him on the cheek lightly. "You're so beautiful."

Jay flushed, cheeks becoming the same colour as pink tulips. "You're beautiful."

He chuckled, kissing Jay again, this time on the lips. "Can I make you a flower crown?" Jay asked.

"Sure, if you can manage." Cole said, putting his headphones back on. Jay scowled at him in response.

He went to gather flowers. He found lavender, which he thought would go nicely with Cole's dark hair, so he picked those. They looked a bit harder to make into a crown, but they turned out to be much easier, since they had much longer stems. He tied them with as precise knots as he could make them, concentrating hard.

Finally, it shaped into something rather beautiful. Small purple flowers dotted around a green ring. He brought it to Cole, quite excited. "Look! I actually managed this time." He said triumphantly, proud of his achievement.

Cole smiled. "It's amazing," he assured him. "Would you do the honours?" He dropped his head to allow Jay to place the crown on.

"You look so good! Now we're matching." Jay said, animated. He took Cole's phone from the grass. "We should take a picture."

Cole nodded, smiling for the camera as Jay took a few selfies. Jay sat on the grass, flicking through them and admiring them. "This one is the best. We look so cute."

"We do," Cole agreed.

"Send them to me when we get home?"

"Sure."
