“Yes.” Kaeya said simply.
Albedo couldn’t believe his ears as he stared wide-eyed at the man.
“Why did you lie to me?” he asked.
Kaeya had the same calm expression, and his words all sounded the same:
“Our understanding was that you didn’t question my actions, and I didn’t question yours, remember?”
“But that’s over now! We don’t work together anymore.” Albedo insisted.
Kaeya’s lips formed a sly smile.
“Oh? Do we? Last time I checked I was sure that you were helping me.”
Albedo’s brows furrowed, and he stopped looking Kaeya in the eyes.
“You keep saying that, but I don’t know how I’m helping you, or the reason you need help from me. After all, the only thing you did was ruin my peaceful life.”
Kaeya huffed. “Peaceful? How can you call your life peaceful when you helped a murderer, and you had in posesion a cursed sword?”
When he heard Kaeya’s words, the blonde male turned his gaze back at him, and responded, his voice slowly being stained by anger:
“I didn’t help you because I wanted to, but because...”
“The payment was good, am I right?” Kaeya interrupted, the smile still on his face.
Albedo paused. It didn’t matter at all for Kaeya whether he was a murderer or not, whether someone caught him or not, because he had the means to silence them all. He had the power to kill, and he had money.
Before Diluc’s death, Kaeya lived quite a normal life, aside from murdering the few people that were getting in his way. But after that night, he took over Dawn Winery, and still kept his job as a Cavalry Captain in the Knights of Favonius. He quickly earned people’s respect this way, and no one ever doubted him.
No one ever thought that Kaeya could kill Diluc.
“Yes, but it doesn’t matter now.” Albedo said.
“If you say so.” Kaeya said simply, surprising Albedo with the way the words sounded.
The man lied back down on the bed, looking at the ceiling, while Albedo just stared at him for a brief second, then followed Kaeya, and lied down too.
“You know, I told you quite a bit of information. But you never really told me what’s the deal with that sword, the origin of it’s powers.” Kaeya said.
Albedo sighted, then turned his back at the man.
“You don’t need to know. Good night, Kaeya.”
Kaeya sighted.
“Adressing me like that, huh. Good night to you too, alchemist.”

It was snowing. He couldn’t even feel his hands anymore because of the cold, and he barely moved forward through the deep white snow. It front of him was a figure whose features couldn’t quite distinguish.
But Albedo knew that it was a woman. The one who thaught him everything he knew, but never told him what’s the secret of this world. The secret behind how he was born, the secret behind his reason for living, but most importantly, the reason to why he didn’t have any memories of her.
“Master!” he cried out, his voice barely audible through the snowstorm.
But the woman didn’t hear him, never heard his desperate cries, and always remained still, with her eyes on Albedo, almost frozen in time. No matter how much he ran through the snow, he never reached her, never reached his goal.
His footprints were always covered by the falling snowflakes, leaving him no other choice but to move forward, because there was no turning back. No turning back from continuing to chase the truth, and his missing memories.
“Please, don’t leave me again!” Albedo continued to cry, reaching a hand forward.
But the woman was already gone.
When the snow stopped falling from the dark sky, always starless, the snow turned crimson red, stained by blood. At his feet lied two lifeless people, wounded, and with their faces blurred. Their weapons were nowhere to be found and the only footprints in the snow were Albedo’s.
He knew he would die alone when the time came, but this image only made it more painful. After all, the only person who he really treasured was the woman who abandoned him. As he raised his gaze at the black sky, tears starting to slowly fall down his cheeks, the only word that he continued to whisper, almost like a prayer was:
“Master...”

Albedo slowly opened his eyes to see the light of the morning sun slowly making it’s way into the room. He tried to get up from the bed, only to be stopped by a hand around his waist. Suddenly, panic started to make it’s way towards his mind when he remembered what happened yesterday.
The first thing he did was look at the man, only to see him sleeping, at least that’s what he thought. Albedo gathered all the calmness he could master, and he said, almost surprising himself of how firm the words sounded:
“Let go.”
No reaction.
“Please let me go, Kaeya.” he repeated.
The man didn’t even flinch. The blonde male tried to free himself from Kaeya’s grasp, only to be stopped by the power with which he held him.
Albedo sighted. “What’s the reason for this?”
Kaeya finally opened his eyes. He had a surprisingly calm expression, with not a single trace of the sly smile, or smirk at the corner of his lips.
“You were crying, and you kept whispering ‘Master’, all while you were moving in you sleep.” Kaeya said, his voice almost soothing.
“And what does that have to do with you not letting me go?” Albedo said, still trying to escape.
“After I hugged you, you seemed to calm down, and have a restful sleep.” Kaeya chuckled.
Kaeya’s hands were still wrapped around his waist, not keen to let go any time soon, while Albedo continued to struggle to escape.
“Why didn’t you mind your own business?!” the blonde male asked, annoyance in his words.
He could feel that Kaeya leaned forward, and whispered in his ear:
“Because you cried my name too.”
Right then, a knock was heard in the direction of the door. Then, it slowly opened, to reveal Dainsleif, who had a troubled expression on his face when he saw Kaeya on the bed, and Albedo sitting on the floor.
“Did something happen, My Lord?”
“Nothing to worry about, Dainsleif.”
“Very well, then we should head out as soon as possible. I believe they are already waiting.” the blonde man said.
“Let’s have breakfast first, shall we? See you downstairs, Dainsleif. Me and the alchemist will come shortly after.”
The man nodded, and left, closing the door behind him, while Albedo got up from the floor, and looked at Kaeya with a frown.
“Why did you do that?!” he snapped.
Kaeya turned his gaze at him, with a fake surprise.
“You said to let go.” he smiled.
“Who are the ones who are supposed to be waiting us right now?”
Kaeya got up from the bed, and started heading to the bathroom.
“You’ll see.”
