MAX MILLER

"No. God. NO. She was already engaged to one of the rich men in India." She literally shouted.

WHAT? My feet were frozen at the same place as my eyes widened.

There was a long silence.

"How do you know? Last time I checked there were no engagement rings on her finger." I said, looking outside where she was holding her phone and smiling at the screen.

She gave me a look which only shows how irritated she was for my motive. But I had never thought about cheating on her, how can I prove that to her.

"Last time I checked she wasn't an American." she sighed.

"What are you trying to say here?"

"Max, are you really lost your brain? Seriously? She's an Indian, in their culture they don't change rings." she protested.

"Then what?"

"I don't know she wasn't engaged but she'll or she might be if she said her father yes, now in that call she was in." She said pointing and looking at Arya.

"What do you mean?"

"She is going to get engaged the next week this day."

"People still do arrange marriage? I think she'll say no." I said grinning at her.

"And what makes you think that?"

"Just a guessing." I shrugged. She looked at me like I was a kidnaper and about to kidnap her so-called, "Friend". I have this feeling that somewhere in her heart she has this feeling for Arya apart from her friend.

"Don't you dare do anything stupid, okay?" she said.

I laughed hard a throaty one.

What makes her think that I'll fall for a girl like her. Not even in my nightmares. I just know her as a friend but she starts to build up her own story in her head. "Come back to your sense my dear friend, Alexa. Do you think who I'm? Huh?" I took a step toward her. The dripping water from the sink made plink... plink... sound counting each second.

"Max, Max the Miller. I don't go behind girls-unless they are like me, you know what I'm trying to say. I guess I don't want to say it out loud. She's not even my type, chubby, shy, and more like an introvert type. She doesn't talk to people very often." I took a break to gather some air to say the next big line. "Look, Alex, I don't care where she gets engaged or even married to that dumb-arse rich man. Did you get it? I don't care! You want me to say it again? I don't care!"

The next day, we all went to the airport to send her off. I wasn't pretending like I was sad neither happy but as usual, I gave all of them the same look as I don't care. At some point, Alexa got irritated and came to me said, "Why don't you just act normal?"

"This is normal." I shrugged as I tucked my hands into my short's pockets before adjusting my coolers and the cowboy hat.

I heard her teeth crushing inside her mouth as two rocks smashed with a boom.

And where the hell was Akash getting ready with his luggage? Was he also going back to his country? Yes, a double victory. I grinned.

"What makes you beam a smile, suddenly?" she asked. Since when I started answering her questions. I should ignore her and her questions.

When I don't open my mouth she nudged me with her arms. "Ouch_" I groaned.

"Say it already," she demanded.

I let out a breath.

"I was wondering where Akash was going." I giggled like a girl as I saw Akash and smile at him who smiled back from the very long distance and waving back at me.

"You poor boy. Where do you think he is going? India. And you wanna know why?" she smirked, devilishly crossing her arms and looking straight into my eyes just like yesterday.

I felt my smiling lips turned into a line as she growing wider.

"Why?" I growled.

"I don't know."

"Tell me."

"No. I was just kidding. I like your face when you switch your beast face to an innocent one like something near to scared."

It's been three days since she was gone to India to get engaged, married, and settle her life with whom she barely knows. I still couldn't come out of the thought that people still doing arrange marriages. Whatever. Why do I even care?

I was on my way to the studio while going to work I prefer the car. I pulled down the window and watched out where she was kissing Adithya a goodbye kiss. And while sitting in my dressing room in front of the mirror I saw Abby my hairstylist moving her mouth like she was talking to me. "How's your girlfriend?"

"In India."

"What? Chloe on vacation to India? I saw her yesterday in the spa." She thinks for a minute. "Are you okay, poor boy? You look like you are in a serious condition."

Shit. I just literally said that? Why the hell Arya roaming here and there in my mind and making me think about her for the past three days. I stood and walked out from there to Kelly's cafe where Alexa was working alone.

And why am I still thinking about her? I've to push her out of my mind. I wanted to get out from there too and go somewhere that has no memory of her. But I just pulled myself to sit on my usual seat and waited for a minute or two. Alexa asked from the counter that I need something but shook my head. I wasn't feeling like eating.

Am I missing her? Wait, I'd already fallen for her or what?

What the hell!

When I was about to go Alexa called me, my hand was an inch away from the door. When I heard her voice I just turned and walked to her where she was standing with the dusting cloth in her hand.

"Shorty's been trying to be in contact with you, he said your phone was switched off? So he asked me to give him a call once you were here. Here." she placed her phone on mine. "Call him. It might be something important."

ALEXA

I gave him my phone to call Shorty. He looks at me for a minute before dialling Shorty. First, his tone was like, "No, I can't" then I noticed his facial expression turning into a devilish grin.

Once he was done with a call he gave it back, scooped me in his arms, and started rotating me. I was yelling as my head starts to rotate inside me. Then he let my leg on the ground and took a deep breath and said, "I got a new contract to sign and It's a big deal."

Finally, some good news for him to get out from Arya's spooky memories. I smiled at him when he walked away dancing in the streets.
