Even though it hurt to be leaving his siblings, most importantly Klaus, Ben couldn't help but think of you. You had passed away three months prior to him due to 'complications' or so Reginald Hargreeves shared. It tore Ben apart knowing his best friend was gone. When he died, he was shocked to not be able to find you. You had moved on past his stage, and so he was stuck without being able to see you for years. Unfortunately Klaus wasn't able to conjure you either. Ben loved Klaus and he enjoyed monitoring his siblings lives, but a part of him was tired of never being able to do anything. All he wanted was to be in peace. So when he finally was ready, he couldn't wait to see you.
