Leaving you was going to be one of the hardest things Klaus had to do. But no matter how hard he tried to pretend like he could stay, how much he felt the 60's called to him, and how much better he simply felt by being with you, he knew it was all about to end. With the return of Five, Klaus felt the clock ticking. He was destined to save the world whether he wanted to or not. That meant leaving you behind. He tried to be distant in a nice way, slowly parting from you in the easiest way he could. It tore him apart and your reaction didn't help either. You had realized what was going on, Klaus growing away from his followers, leaving unanswered questions, disappearing more often. It wouldn't be long till he left you, and you wanted to confront him before it happened.
