Chapter V : Caught Up In Your Gravity

It's been several weeks now since Mingyu's been training with Squad 17. The progress he's made since then and his initial stats impress the members. Even Soonyoung is impressed.

So impressed that he assigns Mingyu to train on his SAGE. During Seokmin's tests on Mingyu, they discover that Mingyu's SAGE is telekinesis. Although Wonwoo and Seungcheol think that there's more to it than that, they still trust Seokmin's judgment overall.

Ever since SAGE training has been added to Mingyu's regiment, he's spent countless hours yelling at his hands and getting disappointed grunts from Soonyoung, who checks in on his progress from time to time. Now that his physical fitness, combat sense, and his body have improved to Soonyoung's liking, he's been doing regular workouts and focusing mostly on SAGE control and manipulation. Control, he's been able to get. He's no longer sending things flying randomly and crushing the bottoms of furniture and causing things around him to float towards him. Now, pretty much the opposite happens. He can't seem to do anything with his SAGE.

Like right now, he can't seem to get an empty can to float to him, or move for that matter. Mingyu frowns at his hands as if they're the source of his problems. He shakes his hands before directing them to the can sitting across from him. He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He focuses on the can and bringing the can towards him. He can hear the can shaking as if struggling to stay afloat in the air. When he opens his eyes, the can stops shaking and drops the few millimeters that it did rise. He then sighs in frustration at his probably hundredth attempt to bring the can towards him. Simple in theory, but much harder to accomplish than he could imagine.

"How did I do it the first time? Seriously? What's wrong with me?" Mingyu curses to himself. He is at his wit end with this whole superpower SAGE business. He runs his hand through his hair in frustration before getting up and kicking the can across the room. He hears a deep chuckle behind him. Knowing who it is, Mingyu hesitantly turns around to find his hyung, Wonwoo. Wonwoo gives the younger a gentle smile before approaching him.

"Still trying to get the can to float to you?" He asks the younger. He sits on the chair where Mingyu previously was and looks up at the frustrated boy.

"Hyung, how did you find out how to use your. . ." Mingyu isn't quite sure what to call it, honestly. He just knows it is something everyone is born with, but it isn't something that everyone can use.

"My SAGE or quirk? I just say SAGE, but Verkwan and Seoksoo like saying quirk cause they're a bunch of weebs," Wonwoo says, a hint of a teasing tone lacing his light-hearted joke. Mingyu finds a small chuckle slips past his lips at the soft smirk on Wonwoo's lips.

"Yeah, SAGE, I guess. How'd you find out how to use them?" Mingyu asks. He notices the slight downturn of the corner of Wonwoo's lips. He hesitates slightly before turning his gaze towards Mingyu.

"Honestly, I don't have a clue. I woke up in this facility, remember? Apparently, I was discovered in a time stasis and a letter was in my hands, and we're honestly just assuming that the stress of waking up in a different time period and without my parents caused my SAGE to activate. Right now, using my abilities is like second nature for me, so I'm not sure what I can tell you. . ." Wonwoo says. Mingyu sees the distant and longing look in Wonwoo's eyes. He too is just trying to figure out who he is and what happened to him. Wonwoo shakes his head before standing up from the chair and signaling Mingyu over, who obeys immediately. He gestures for Mingyu to sit.

"Sit down and close your eyes," Wonwoo tells Mingyu. The boy does as he's told, not questioning his hyung.

"Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Relax," Wonwoo waits for Mingyu to do as he says and follows along before he continues, "Mingyu-yah, ignore the can. Forget the can. Think back to the incident where you first used your SAGE. Think back to when you saved me."
