14 ~ Awake

Giovanni's POV ~

1 week.

7 days.

168 hours.

10,080 minutes.

604,800 seconds. (Everyone was daring me to 🤣)

604,800,000 milliseconds. (I had to 😭)

That's how long since our bambina tried to... well.

This past week has felt like a lifetime, a lifetime of restless sleeps and constant worrying.

After she collapsed in Vince's arms, Luca rushed her down to the medical bay we have for the mafia, not wanting to waste any time getting to a hospital. She would also have priority in our medical bay. Since then she hasn't woken up.

Angelo and I have been working on her arm to check if it's healing and making sure she's stable, but it's so hard to see her body on the hospital bed.

She almost looks lifeless. She looked dead.

No. Stop.

She's alive and she's fine. Her body just needs rest. She's fine.

She was scared of us. She thought we were going to hurt her. Her thoughts got the better of her, but when she wakes up I swear to God I will protect her with everything I've got.

Even if it means protecting her form herself.

I am sitting next to Bella's bed, holding her delicate hand after changing out her IV, when I feel a tight grip on my hand and soft groan coming from Bella.

I get up and reach for the lights to dim them so that she doesn't hurt her eyes. I then reach for my phone to text Angelo, asking him to come down to help me check on her once she had fully woken up.

When I went back to Bella's bed, she was slowly opening her eyes and gently rubbing them.

Once her bright grey eyes met mine, I was filled with relief. Our house has been so dull this past week without Bells.

Angelo soon came into the room, "Hey Bells, how you feeling?" Angelo asked in a soft voice.

His voice must have set her off, as she immediately burst into a stream of tears.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Bella sobbed as she hugged her knees tightly to her chest.

It broke me seeing her like this; so broken and hurt. My ached to see my principessa like this.

I wrapped my arms around her trying to calm her down whilst whispering reassuring words in her ear. They seemed to work as her sobs began to die out.

Once she had calmed down we got her glass of water to soothe her probably scratchy throat.

"So Bells, how are you feeling?" Angelo asked again, whilst holding a clipboard and pen.

"Alright I guess." Bella shrugged.

"We won't ask you any questions about what happened but we want you to know how much we love you." I said to Bella as I made my way outside the room to call Luca and Darien.

Ring

Ring

"Yes Gio is everything alright?" Luca asks from the other end of the line.

"She awake."

Isabella's POV ~

I was in the hospital bed cuddled up with Angelo and surrounded by pillows when I head the door creek open and in walked the rest of my brothers. I heard the heart monitor increase as my nerves kicked in.

They all had mixed emotions on their faces. Some were relieved, some were happy, some were worried and concerned, and some looked angered.

"I'm sorry." I managed to let out, as I blinked back the tears ghat were threatening to spill.

"Bambina you don't need to apologize. We're sorry we scared you." Luca said softly, tears welling up in his eyes as well, but he quickly wiped them away.

"No, no I shouldn't have let my stupid thoughts get the better of me. I was just scared and I wanted the pain to just leave me alone for once.", I said as I began to sob into Angelo's chest.

Angelo held me tighter as I continued to sob.

After what felt like hours, I finally stopped crying and looked up at my brothers.

They were all smiling softly at me.

"You should be able to leave in around 3 hours once Gio has made sure everything is good." Matteo said giving me another warm smile.

"How long was out for?" I asked.

"You were out for a week, but don't worry we've already told your friends that you were away for family issues and will be back next Monday." Darien explained to me, "Now get some rest, you looked tired."

Everyone slowly left the room and snuggled back into Angelo's chest before slowly drifting off to sleep.
