Schedule your Devotions in a time where you will have no interruptions. Devotions can be in the morning before you go to school or work or at night before you go to sleep. It depends on what time you can fully focus on your relationship with God. To help you decide, here are some pros and cons of devotions in the morning and at night:
Morning Devotions Pros
- provides you with clear direction and insight from God before the day starts
- keeps you inspired to do whatever work you need to accomplish for the day
- helps you to wake up early to prioritize Devotions first before doing other productive tasksEvening Devotions Pros
- provides you with reflections and lessons from God after the day ends
- keeps you calm and at peace after a long day of work
- reminds you to pray and thank the Lord for the blessings you have received throughout the dayMorning Devotions Cons
- other responsibilities at home that needs your urgent attention
- possible cramming of Devotions because of lack of time in preparing for work or schoolEvening Devotions Cons
- physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted after a long day of work or school
- possible neglect and procrastination of Devotions because of fatigue and drowsinessThere is no right or wrong choice of what time you should do your Devotions as long as you can fully be present and productive with God in spending time with Him. You can start with just 30 minutes a day until you begin to take control of your schedule and allot an hour for your Devotions with God. The more time you spend with God, the more you will appreciate and love God more. Whatever time you set, understanding the Word of God and enjoying His presence is far more important.
