Note: This part is purely a retelling of the titular episode. If you want to read the actual story, you can go to the next part.
Aang found himself watching the play, along with his friends. He already knew that this is not a good idea. Why would he even agree to do this? They are literally hunted by the Fire Nation, it's unimaginable to be actually part of a Fire Nation event where tons of people are gathered, he can only hope that no one would actually recognize them, their faces are already plastered all over Ember Island because of this play. The mere idea of watching a play about themselves is as crazy as it could be.And the play is not even good.
He kept this thought inside his head after the first intermission although Toph says otherwise. She is utterly impressed by how the play was written, and the research that went to it. "I hate to say this, but what you see on the stage is the truth," Toph said to them. But for Aang, he thought this play is utter mockery.
Now the scene is not familiar to Aang. Katara was sent to the cave where Zuko was imprisoned.
"I thought you were the Avatar's girl," Actor Zuko said.
"No, I only think of him as a little brother," Actor Katara said.Aang quickly stood up and walked to the exit. Sokka quickly said something about getting him fire flakes and fire gummies, but this certainly did not reach Aang's head.
Katara and Zuko exchanged glances, and it's clear that they are both embarrassed, but neither said a word.
At last, another intermission. Perfect time to break the air getting heavy between the two.
Katara noticed that Aang is not with them as they left the viewing hall. She immediately went outside to check on Aang. Sokka and Suki left for the back stage while Zuko and Toph was remained in the hallway.
Soon enough, Katara found Aang outside the hall, looking outside, towards the sea.
"Aang."
"Is it true? What you said in the play?" Aang asked, but it sounds more of a demand.Katara failed to answer right away.
"We kissed at the Invasion, and after that I thought we would be together," he argued."No, it's just... we're in the middle of a war." Katara explained. "And... I am confused."
Aang suddenly reached for her lips and gave her a kiss.
"Aang! I just said I'm confused." Katara exclaimed. She quickly turned her back and walked away.Aang regretted what he did. It didn't give him any answer, instead he has more questions than ever. "I'm an idiot," he told to himself.
He thought of not going back inside at all, in hopes of saving his face. However, he grew tired of thinking, so, he just decided to go back and watch the play. Upon arrival, he no longer wanted to sit beside Zuko, so he just settled to the seat behind him, next to Sokka. He quickly filled him in on what he missed and the group watched the play until the end.
Unsatisfied, the group walked away from the theater, agreeing with one another that the play is really bad.
